I agree completely. 1L work experience at a law firm is always a good thing.

cool. I will have a lot of loans when I am done. The only thing I am happy about is that the interest rate will be VERY low for most of my loans.

You are welcome!  Glad to help.

By the way, I actually followed the directions today and it worked no problem!

Todd

So did you use the feds( www.loanconsolidation.ed.gov) to keep our six month grace period or choose a private lender that offered better terms and conditions in other areas?

Just finished week three.  Feeling much more confident and still loving it!

It sounds like most of us are enjoying it so far! I think having a 1L law firm clerkship should give us a big leg up in interviewing for 2l summer jobs also.

federal stafford loans will not require a credit check. hth

You only need a cosigner if you need more loans than the federal loan max.

Much like the type of research and writing you did for your appellant brief. Feels like homework all day.

To me it is more interesting that school.... somehow when a real life client and real money is involved I enjoy the work more:) I am really liking it.

General Board / Re: Value of JD/MBA degree
« on: June 12, 2005, 01:34:45 AM »
I already had my MBA, and have put it to good use, but for me it was worth it to go back and get the JD.  It depends so much on your goals that there's no way for anyone to really answer that, but you probably already knew that...

I think of myself as a business person first, with a (pending) law degree as a huge plus.  I don't know if I would feel the same way if I was dedicated to practicing law, and wanted to use the MBA as a plus.  I don't think the MBA is worth as much as an add-on to a lawyer as a JD is as an add-on to a business person.

Not really sure if that makes sense, but good luck with whatever you decide!  As a parting note, I've never met anyone whose ever learned anything and then looked back with regret.  Without knowing beans about your situation, if you can do it, I would say go for it!

Regards,
Todd

Thanks for your comments. I agree with most of what you said. I also earned my MBA before law school and consider myself a business person (entreprenuer) at heart. I do plan on practicing law for a while after graduation... But in the long run I do not plan on practicing but will use my legal knowledge to make better business decisions, network and gain credibility when raising raising capital for my business ventures

I felt the same way much of my first week. Once one of the partners told me not too worry about how many hours I am billing for each project I felt better. Apparently they will frequently write down the hours billed by summer associates.. I think that the more work we do the more efficient we will become. And we still get paid the same rate the whole summer:)

I checked my loan consolidation status on line and it looks like it is all processed! One less thing to worry about! How is everyone enjoying working so far this summer? I really like the law firm that I am at:)
