Do I really want to go to some crappy school that doesn't have a basketball team good enough to make it to the Tourney?  Or even one with no basketball team at all? Hello! I think I may limit myself to only those schools who experience basketball success this year.

Sorry Rutgers, maybe next year. Villanova, you better show me something. UNC, Duke, Wake? This could be the way to go here. Uconn, BC, Syracuse? Well, I guess we'll have a better idea of where I should go after a couple of rounds of the Tournament.

Any advice here is appreciated.

It comes as no surprise to anyone who has made their way onto Brtooklyn's mailing list. But I got more stuff from them yesterday. They waitlisted me several weekes ago. BUt their latest piece of mail was letting me know that it's not too late for me to apply to Brooklyn Law School for Fall of 2005.  I wonder if I would get in if I were to send in an identical application right now.

Before I was appreciative of their marketing efforts. Now it just feels like they are rubbing in the fact that I didn't get in.

Anybody else get any of this junk from BLS recently?

Choosing the Right Law School / Did it take this long last year?

I feel pretty fortunate that I only have one pending application (4 WLs, though). But I know plenty of people, as well as tons on LSD, who have as many as 10 apps still pending. And a lot of these people have had files complete since October.

Is there anyone out there who went through this process last year who can shed some light on whether or not the same kind of last minute stuff was happening last year?

I know the process isn't fair, but it seems pretty unfair to admit someone close to the deposit deadline. A lot of people live nowhere near where they are applying and may actually want to visit the schools that admit them before committing $100,000 to their education.

Was it better last year (or in previous years)? Or is it pretty much always like this?

Choosing the Right Law School / Villanova Open House This Weekend?

Anyone going to the Villanova Accepted Students Open House this Saturday?

Anyone planning to go to this event?

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / The American dream is now dead...
« on: February 26, 2005, 09:28:44 AM »
Got my rejection from American yesterday. You gotta love the swiftness of the mail service when you live in the same city as the school. Letter was postmarked thursday and I got it friday.

I pretty much new it would be tough to get into American, but I figured with all of my other waitlists, that is what I would get. Not so much, I guess.

But the good news is I only have one more school to hear from (damn you W&L! damn you to hell.) Then I'll be done with this wretched process.

Choosing the Right Law School / Is anyone completely done with the process?

I have 2 more to hear from (W&L and American) and everyone else I know has at least one pending app still.  Is there anyone out there who has gotten a decision from every school they applied to? (yes, waitlists count)

I'm just curious to hear this kind of success story, I guess.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Brooklyn
« on: February 25, 2005, 06:21:01 AM »
I got my Brooklyn waitlist letter yesterday. A couple of thoughts

1) They told me on 2/10 that the letter was in the mail. On 2/20  Icalled again and they told me it hadn't been sent out yet. WTF?

2) Although I got it yesterday, it was dated 2/15. Again, WTF? Why does it take ten days to put a fncking letter in the mail after it's printed.

3) This makes three NYC schools that have waitlisted me: Brooklyn, Cardozo, and St. John's. Apparently ther eis something in my application that scares the sh!t out of the NYC schools. I'm not sure what it is. Any ideas?

Incoming 1Ls / Rutgers-Camden v. Villanova
« on: February 21, 2005, 11:15:12 AM »
My choice basically boils down to Rutgers-Camden and Villanova. I'm from Philly and I frew up in Center City, so I know the area well. I have also spent time on both campuses so I know what the schools lok like and (to a lesser extent) feel like.

Anyone have any input about deciding between these two?

I'm interested if anyone has any insight into Rutgers-Camden versus Villanova.  It looks like these are the schools I am deciding between.  I'm especially interested in factors that are not stats you can find in USNWR. I have seen all those numbers.  I'm originally from Philadelphia and I've spent time on both campuses.
