thanks, now i'm no longer worried about competing against "the best and the brightest" in law school
lets hope all of my future classmates are busy writing parody songs instead of briefing cases and the like... keep it up

caught trey in nola for the superjam and the jazzfest day show, both we're rockin.. i'll be catching the summer tour once i'm back up in PA (they're even playing near my hometown in scranton, which i hope to make it up for)

and regarding my impressions on brooklyn, i'm pretty confused.  i got this call, and two of my friends (who are both more qualified than me, grades/lsat/etc) have heard nothing 'since the day all three of us received our deferral letters back in march.  (Same day)   all in all, i think brooklyn is very shady in general with this admissions cycle and it has certainly helped me to feel better about my decision.

where do you think you will be headed?

PS I think no sleep till manayunk is a little better than no sleep till ardmore

hey divided, good choice... congrats and good luck... by the way, did you catch any trey shows this last tour?  I was at both hammersteins..

for those waiting on brooklyn, what is everybodys interpretation of Brooklyns offers so far this cycle?  Do you think they have a lot of room, more room than in the past, less, etc?  I was just changed from deferred to waitlisted, but I see from lsn that people have been accepted to the PT position with lower numbers than I have, so it is good that they are really looking at the applciation package at this stage... any thoughts on the bls process and my chances particuarly are greatly appreciated..

thirsty thursdays at zephyr field are fun.  unfortuantely i was very busy this weekend and did not see this message until now -- thanks for the offer though!!   (it was graduation weekend, the entire family came down, pretty intense)

interesting reading about 'nova.  i just got on the waitlist after months of hearing nothing.  it said they take people off the WL each year but i'm not getting my hopes up.  i honestly don't even know if law school is worth leaving a good job for quite yet.  i'm in the field i want to be in (sports) with co-workers that are like family.

regardless, i'd like to get in and at least have the choice.  good luck to you guys there if it doesn't happen for me.  i have a couple of life-long buddies (one will be a penn 3L and one is a wharton grad that stuck around there for work) so the area is enticing.  my gf has an aunt and uncle in villanova as well.

dividedsky, if you're gonna be in nola and want to head out to a zephyrs game with some friends...PM me.  I'll leave you tix at will call.  thirsty thursday $1 beers and there's some decent talent most of the time.

Go to Brooklyn.  You would have your own Beastie Boy theme song for life.

No one sings about the Mainline.

It's hard to argue with this line of reasoning.

yeah thats the best argument i see anyway  ;)
i've decided to stick with nova (have a pretty good plan in order, and i love philly anyway)
thanks everyone for your input!

They sent me a strange and confusing email this morning saying basically "this is not an offer of admission" but rather trying to gague my potential interest in being part time at brooklyn.  Phone call followed two hours later, clarifying that it was, in fact, an offer of admission to part time.

In the email it stated that an acceptance packet would be sent if and only if I responded indicating my interest in part time by monday.  However, the nice lady on the phone made it sound more like they want an actual decision by monday.  Pretty intense, but i guess thats just the NY way...

Ok, so basically for the last month or so i've been 100% villanova.  have an apartment lined up with my best friend from high school (in grad school at temple), and a bunch of friends and family in the area.  then today i get off brooklyn's waitlist.  my best friend from college is going to brooklyn, living in the new dorm.   there is still space in the new dorm.

acceptance at brooklyn is only PT, evening.  'nova is FT day.  i'm coming right from undergrad, and don't plan on working.  what should i do?

i'm living with a good friend from high school who is in grad school for film at Temple across town... (our apt in Manayunk is basically halfway between our respective schools).   i would highly recommend living with someone else -- living alone can be lonely and depressing (or so i'd imagine, but then again i'm a pretty social person), and you definately will save money that way too.  just make sure its someone who will be respectful so that your studies (and sleep patterns) are undisturbed.

Hi all!
I wasn't sure if I should be posting things in the Villanova section of the "Students & Graduates" board or here...  I already posted something regarding apartment hunting, cuz I'm not sure if it's worth living alone for around $1000/mo. or living with a roommate for half the price.  What do you guys think?   :)

haven't heard a thing from USD or Loyola LA.  don't care at all, as I made my decision to attend Villanova almost a month ago now... just reject me already so i can update LSN

It's nice to see some people finally talking about Villanova.  I was beginning to wonder if there was anyone else out there.  Where is everyone moving from?  How different is the area from your hometown?  What made you choose 'Nova?  Just curious.  Looking for some activity on the Villanova posts...

i'm originally from Hazleton, PA (pocono mountains) but have spent the last 4 years in New Orleans, LA... I picked Villanova because I want to end up in the Northeast, most likely in PA.  It also doesn't hurt that they're the best school I got into.  Obviously nothing compares to New Orleans, but, as much as I love it down here, I'll be happy to get back up north to a normal city (and a slightly more serious academic environment than at Tulane... if you're even the least bit prone to slacking, the tulane black hole will suck you right in... take my word for it).  It wlil also nice to be only 2 hours away from mom and pop (they're pretty excited anyway, which works to my advantage in the long run as well)...
