Studying for the LSAT / Why does October have to be so far away?
« on: June 29, 2005, 06:17:51 PM »
Dammit, I want another crack at it NOW!

I'm trying to make a big LSAT jump for my retake, hopefully above 170.  Yet, I have no good reason for scoring below my so-called potential the first time -- wasn't sick, no deaths in the family, etc.  Did anyone else make a sizable jump and couldn't really explain it?  Did the adcoms request an addendum or write you about it?  How did it work out?

Now, it says on their website that they "consider the highest score but look at all of them."  It's hard to make out what that means precisely.  If you retook and were borderline, how did you fare?  For instance, I got a 164 for this past test and want to retake.  If I get a 167/168 do I have a good shot or does the 164 still bring me down in their eyes?  I looked at lawschoolnumbers but frankly, there just isn't that much data on retakers and certainly no anecdotal evidence.  Thanks!

Studying for the LSAT / Leaning towards retaking
« on: June 25, 2005, 07:48:55 PM »
Well, on the heels of my 164, I'm really leaning towards retaking now.  Though I've burned through most prep stuff, I think I can study smart and do better.  I almost think that I didn't study enough for RC because it was my strength and got burned.  But from looking on lawschoolnumbers, it seems like schools are more willing to take a low + high, even if a straight score wouldn't have made the cut.  For instance, even though 164+170 is 167, I see many more of those getting in than, say, a 167 alone.  Can I guarantee breaking 170?  No.  But I've done it before in practice and it might be wroth a shot.  Anyway, I haven't made up my mind yet, but if I have another opportunity, it almost seems silly to waste it...

Well, at least for us east coast folks, Friday was a disappointment.  It is now Saturday.  Any chance for today?

Law School Admissions / How do law schools get my actual transcript?
« on: June 18, 2005, 04:28:03 PM »
I realize that LSAC calculates the score report and all, but do they also send the schools a scan of the transcript to look at all the courses I've taken?

You've been there, done that...gotten all the test info back.  So, how accurate is the speculation?  How often is it wrong?

Studying for the LSAT / Signing off until after the exam

It's been fun everyone, but I need time off LSD before the June exam to clear my head and get ready.  Good luck to all and thanks for all the tips along the way.  I'll check in after it's all over -- best to all!
