Studying for the LSAT / Will a mod please clean this section up?
« on: September 10, 2005, 09:54:44 PM »
Seriously, it's gotten absurd.  Half of the threads in this section are bogus crap.  The LSAT section seems to be the worst offender.  Or just make me a mod -- I'll do it.

Studying for the LSAT / The fragility of it all
« on: September 06, 2005, 05:49:36 PM »
So today I got a reminder regarding just how fragile everything is.  I was working on a logic game in practice, and it's just not making any sense -- it's a pure sequencing game and it's not that hard, but nothing matches up.  I get 4 of 5 wrong on an easy game.  When I went back over it I realized I was accidentally switching around two groups.  In other words, I was doing it backwards.  That's all it took -- we have to be so careful when we do these things.  Can't stress that enough.

Law School Admissions / fill out diversity essay?
« on: August 30, 2005, 02:45:08 PM »
I don't know what to do.  I'm white, middle-class, fairly typical guy.  I don't feel like I could, or should, write a diversity essay.  Would it look bad if I didn't?  I'm not trying to be lazy but I'm not sure what to do...

What is everyone else doing?

Studying for the LSAT / Pittsburgh LSAT study group for high scorers?
« on: August 18, 2005, 03:55:51 PM »
So, are there any Pittsburgh people here?  I'd be interested in a study partnership or small group for high scorers, that is, those aiming for high 160s+.  Don't mean to sound like a snob or anything, but there won't be that much time left and any time spent on basics would be a waste for me at this point.  Let me know if you're interested.

Law School Admissions / When did I register for LSDAS?
« on: August 18, 2005, 09:10:38 AM »
Many apps are asking this question, but I'm not sure where to find it.  Does LSAC list my registration date somewhere on the site and I just can't find it?

Law School Admissions / Cornell EA thoughts?
« on: August 17, 2005, 09:42:16 PM »
So what are people's experiences with EA at Cornell?  Is it one of those where they just defer every borderline person so as to put them at the bottom of the heap come March?  Or is deferral not used very often?  Of course it all rides on my Oct. score, but I don't want to apply EA if it'll just mean deferment and more waiting.

Studying for the LSAT / For people who post LR questions
« on: August 10, 2005, 05:30:38 AM »
I have no problem with this, in fact, I like it.  But I do have a simple favor to ask.  Can you write which preptest it's coming from in the title?  Because I don't have that many tests left and if it is a precious question that I haven't done yet, I'd like it to stay that way and not open the thread.  Thanks!

General Off-Topic Board / NBC Drops reality-show 'The Law Firm"

NBC Drops 'The Law Firm' Reality Series
By Scott Collins, LA Times Staff Writer

NBC has delivered a quick verdict on "The Law Firm," dumping the legal reality series from producer David E. Kelley that debuted to low ratings last month, the television network said Monday.

The show, which features celebrity legal analyst Roy Black judging litigators vying for a $250,000 cash prize, delivered a paltry 3.9 million viewers for its second episode Thursday, a plunge of 24% from its July 28 premiere.
"NBC will no longer be broadcasting episodes of 'The Law Firm,' " the network said in a statement. The six remaining episodes will air on Bravo, NBC's sister cable network, on dates that are "yet to be determined," the statement said.

On Thursday, the network will replace "The Law Firm" with repeats of the sitcoms "Will & Grace" and "Scrubs." Starting next week, NBC will fill the slot with two back-to-back repeats of "Scrubs" starting at 9 p.m. Then on Sept. 22, the fourth season of NBC's "The Apprentice" will premiere in the slot.

"The Law Firm" was the first reality series for Kelley, best-known for such scripted series as "Ally McBeal" and "The Practice." The producer's spokeswoman said he was out of the country and unavailable to comment.

Increasingly, networks are yanking reality shows that deliver poor ratings right away, leaving the few viewers who were engrossed in the competition to wonder what might have been. CBS pulled "The Will," about scheming heirs battling for an inheritance, after just one episode in January.
