It would be really bizarre if the university extended an offer for only half of a dual degree program, don't you think?  My gut feeling is that SIS waits until the law school has a decision before making one since it would be pretty silly to admit someone to a program they can't attend (i.e. being admitted to the MA half but not the JD one).  Maybe it is just wishful thinking, but I just can't accept that a major U.S. university could be that ass-backwards.

I applied for the JD/MA program and was admitted to WCL a month or two ago. Then, a few days ago I received a separate acceptance from SIS.  I've spoken to both schools admissions offices and they told me (as did the acceptance letters) that the candidate is considered for each school independently.  So, I would say you have been admitted to SIS (I also got that email), but WCL has not yet made a decision.  When I spoke to SIS they said they would be sending out their decisions in early April, and WCL, I guess, has until the deposit deadline, the 15th, to let you know.

If you have gotten into either school you are free to attend it without other, and obviously if you gotten into both you can do that.  I also think it is silly for them to do things this way, and I'm also sorry to say that American is that ass-backwards, but I hope this helps.  Hopefully, you'll hear back from WCL, with some good news, soon.

I am thinking about.  I just went down to American a few weeks ago to check it out.  I, however, did not realize that one needed to RSVP in order ensure a space on the tour.  It just so happened that there was some kind of "special group" there that day.  So, if you do happen to go there some other day, call the admissions office.

That is weird.  I wonder why they told me that.  I haven't gotten an email either.  This is rather strange...

Choosing the Right Law School / the blue postcard from American...

I sent American my app on Oct. 31st.  They didn't request my LSDAS report until Dec. 10th.  And a few weeks ago, when I emailed them to ask if my app was complete, they told me they would be mailing me a blue postcard when it went to committee.

So has anyone gotten this fabled blue postcard? If you have, how long soon after did your decision arrive?  How long did they take to send the card to you once they had requested your report?

My friends at Hastings were all sorotiy, so i think you can kick their asses.

Nice.  Now I'm actually hoping to be a part of some.

Does anyone have any idea about the study abroad programs available at Emory?  I've been looking around their website and I can't seem to find any.

Got my acceptance today, postmarked Jan 21. Yay!

do you know if/when your online status changed?  i'm getting anxious because mine hasn't and i have been complete for a long time now.

So I've heard a lot of stuff about Hastings such as rampant book hiding, people getting bullied, and other such craziness.  Is this true?  Can anyone verify?  Will I get beat up if I end up there?  I really like the Bay Area but this stuff about the school is making me think twice about attending if I am accepted.

Yeah I don't think it'd be all that's just that the city has so much to offer....

BTW OP, Larkin St is just a block from it's meant to be! Good luck.

thanks! cue the twilight zone theme song.  and to think i picked that name out rather randomly...
