I'm getting antsy!

Law School Admissions / Just got a speeding ticket today....a question...
« on: February 25, 2005, 09:31:35 PM »
The only schools that I have applied to that require disclosure of minor traffic violations are W&L and American (if fine over $100).  I'm in NY State, and apparently you don't find out your fine right away, only if you plead guilty and then you are notified by mail.  I'm planning on pleading not guilty and going to court, but my question is do I need to send an addendum to my application to W&L and then to American (if I end up having to pay more than $100), even though this happened after I submitted my apps?

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / No $$$ at St. John's...
« on: February 23, 2005, 09:15:11 AM »
I got my official acceptance letter today, and was pretty disappointed that there was no mention of any $$$.  They take the higher LSAT score, so I was pretty sure with a 162 they would give me a little money.  I know I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth on this, but I really can't afford to go there without money.  :(

I"m assuming all scholarship notifications were made in the acceptance packet, right?

I got an email this morning inviting me to an admitted students open house.  I hadn't heard anything either way from them, so this was definitely news to me!  I called the admissions office and got the same mean lady I talked to before, but once she told me I was admitted, she turned really nice.  Huh.  Imagine that.

Choosing the Right Law School / Fake out....the big envelope...

was a view book from a school I'm not even interested in!!!!!

At this late in the game, it's cruel.  A big boo to Southwestern for filling my mailbox with their propaganda.

Choosing the Right Law School / Calling St. John's??
« on: February 15, 2005, 09:36:47 AM »
I called and spoke with an admissions counselor told me it would be 6-8 weeks from the time they requested my LSDAS report.  Did anyone get anywhere by leaving a message and waiting for an admissions counselor to call you back?

I'm getting anxious because it's been about 8 weeks and I was pretty sure they'd accept me because they take the higher LSAT score...

Choosing the Right Law School / Syracuse sent me a T-shirt!!
« on: February 08, 2005, 09:32:47 AM »
Syracuse sent me a T-shirt in the mail with a congratulatory note (handwritten) from the Dean!  They're trying pretty hard...between the window decal they sent with my acceptance letter, and now this....   Anyone else get similar bounty?

Choosing the Right Law School / Northeastern question....
« on: February 02, 2005, 12:02:05 PM »
Northeastern is my first choice school.  I am looking to go into public interest law, and I love their co-op program.  My stats are 3.53 UGPA, 153/162 (158 avg) LSAT, 5 yrs WE as a mental health counselor, and I've done lots of volunteer work.  I called them to ask about their policy regarding multiple LSAT scores, and I was first told they average them but look at both if there is a significant difference.  The woman I talked to agreed that 9 points was a significant difference.  I asked if I should write an addendum to address the difference, and she said, sure.  I don't know why I asked because I really don't have anything to say...I just did better the second time.  I would think that if they were going to take the difference under consideration when looking at my app, they wouldn't need an addendum from me in order to do that, especially since there are no extenuating circumstances to explain it.   :-\

How would you handle this situation?  I thought that I wouldn't have any trouble getting into Northeastern, but now I'm not so sure after looking at last year and this year's info on LSN.

Any help/opinions would be appreciated.

Minority and Non-Traditional Law Students / any military spouses??
« on: January 20, 2005, 11:30:51 AM »
I was wondering if any one else is facing a similar situation with law husband is stationed in NY and will have to stay there while I"m in school.  He's also facing another year long deployment next year.  We're trying to figure out how we'll manage two separate households for three years!  There's only one school remotely close to where we live, so commuting isnt' really an option.  :(

Any one else?   ;D
