I don't have much info on the social aspect, but I was accepted to UK on a merit scholarship. I'm out of state, and I'll have to only pay the in-state rates to go there. It's the best law school in the state and they supposedly place pretty well in KY. I don't know how they place everywhere else. I want to get back to that part of the country (I hear Lexington is pretty nice)

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Does American do merit scholarships?

I'm still trying to figure out why people actually go to American. I mean, I applied there (I wish I hadn't), but apparently they give out very few merit scholarships and they are a ridiculously expensive school in an unltra competitive market. It would be different if they were higher ranked, but they are the 3rd or 4th best school in the region. Would I pay 45 grand a year to go there? hell no

It looks like you have some local schools that you can attend, however. Good luck.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / In at Akron (phone call)

160/3.5, out of state, white male

I applied to them because they sent me a fee waiver I think; I can't quite remember. They said they are mailing scholarship stuff also. I've already gotten a partial scholarship to UK, which is a better school, but Akron might give me a full ride. Who knows.

You'll love UK.  Rolling hills, white fences, and horses grazing every where.

Thanks. I'm really considering going there. I've heard Northern KY is nice. It's my first acceptance (I have 17 others pending), but I doubt I'll get a scholarship offer like this.

$9600 each year. 3.5/160, out of state

I would actually save money by going there rather than staying here (Seattle) and going to UW (still pending). UK is looking good.

You have a pretty good chance of getting in there. Your numbers are in their range and they probably don't get a lot of applicants from Texas. Are you wanting to relocate to the Seattle area?

St. Louis University is the best on that list.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: catholic vs. miami

Both are overly expensive IMO, but at least with Miami its sort of the only game in town; as opposed to CU which competes with many other schools. And as far as living, Miami > DC anyday (unless you want federal government work).
