As someone who went to UF for undergrad and then spent some time in College Park while living in DC for a few years after graduation, I can say with confidence that College Park does not hold a candle to Gainesville. Gainesville has a far superior campus, nightlife, quality of ass, bar scene, etc. There were tons of Maryland people at the bars in DC every weekend, and I think it's because there were so few bars in College Park. While DC does have a lot to offer, there was no shortage of quality bars to attend at night in Gainesville that would have required us to go somewhere else.
On the other hand, I'm 30 now and I think it would be tough to spend 3 years in Gainesville at this point of life after living in NYC for over six years. However, I still consider Gainesville to be my second home and try to make it back for a football game every year. Also, from a guy's persepective, the undergrad girls love the law students...and it is without question one of the best looking campuses you can ever hope to find.
