Florida State / Laptop
« on: July 20, 2005, 01:49:12 PM »
What kind of laptop did you guys end up picking up?  I'm in the process of making a final decision and am interested to see what direction you guys are going. Thanks!

At this point, my objective is to practice in South Florida.  My first choice has always been Miami, and I am now on their waitlist.  Based upon information floating around, it looks like my chances for admission there are minimal.  I am now moving forward under the assumption that I will ultimately be rejected.  I came to grips with this and came to the conclusion that I will go to Nova and network my ass of to get a decent job as many people I know who work in this market have done.

Things got complicated a bit today when I learned of my acceptance to FSU.  Assuming that I can get in state tuition my last two years ( I live in NY now), it looks like a great option.  My concern is that my best employment options will be in North Florida.  I went to UF and know for a fact that I do not want to end up in Jax, Orlando, Tampa, etc.

Does anyone have any quality information and opinions on what my employment chances will be at good firms in South Florida coming from FSU and Nova?  I am looking at law school as a means to an end, so really the quality and location of opportunities are by far my most important decision criteria.  Any help that anyone can provide is greatly appreciated...

Wait List / Hold at Miami
« on: February 03, 2005, 04:12:11 PM »
I just got put on hold by Miami until 4/30...3.0 (2.8 LSAC), 153/163 LSAT and 8.5 years of work experience.  It was my #1 choice, so it's a big letdown.

I've already submitted a voluntary addemdum explaining the lsat differential (full cross country track meet went on outside testing site first time around during two sections).  I'm not sure what I'm going to do now.

Hello, I placed the posting below on the general board and only received a web site link.  I'm hoping to get some further insight from those who have more in common that are going throught the process as older applicants....

I'm a 30 year old white male decided to pursue the law degree that I decided not to pursue after a very mediocre undergrad track record (3.0 GPA, 2.8 LSDAS adjusted?, University of Florida).  I have a very solid resume that includes the sales and management of multi-million dollar projects and management of staff in various businesses with significant legal exposure.  Currently, I am launching a new division of a property/facilities management organization.

In terms of LSAT, I got a 153 in October, which was far below my diagnostic tests.  I retook the test in December and received a 163.  My recommendations are all non-academic from senior level executives that I have either done business with or have worked for.

My objective is practice law in either New York, Florida, or Washington, DC.  Any help that anyone can lend into where they think I may be accepted or rejected will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance....
