Law School Admissions / Re: Deposit deadline for Villanova?
« on: April 24, 2005, 07:12:45 PM »
When is it?

The official deadline was 4/1 but for people accepted after that date they've been giving em 2 weeks from the date the letter was received I believe.

Let's hear your favorite.

And best is relative.

My favorite is this:

Long Slow Comfortable Screw Against the Wall

1 shot Sloe gin
1 shot Vodka
1 shot Southern Comfort
1 shot Galliano
Orange juice
Mixing instructions:
Mix all ingredients in a glass

Doesn't even taste that good, but it's a hell of a lot of fun to order!

bourbon, straight up

Not a peep, in fact, they disregarded an email I sent for status check on Monday.  I imagine I'll send another one.  I applied at Halloween, so I'd like to know one way or the other, especially since I garuantee matriculation if accepted.

kevdog  I have heard from people on this board that the only real way to get in touch with their admissions office is by phone.  they don't seem to respond very quickly (if at all) to email.

good luck to you all.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Villanova Letters

Hey, since you guys are talking about villanova, i was wondering if you could help me decide. I have two regional schools to choose from (Santa Clara and Villinova). Now, i got money at SCU, but none at nova, the only thing that would swing me to nova is if i knew i could get a job in NYC, where i'm from, when i graduate (assuming i did well of course). What do you guys think are the chances of me being able to work in NYC out of Villanova?

Any responses are greatly appreciated, as i have to choose by saturday.

From what I gather at both Temple and Villanova, you'll need to be in the top 10-15% for a realistic shot at Philly BigLaw.  I have to think chances are even lower at NYC big law.  Its certainly not impossible but will require a fair amount of networking on your part.  Of course if you're looking at mid-small size firms, you would have more luck I'd think.  Villanova's has a pretty large undergrad alumni base up that way, certainly larger than SCU so if NYC is where you want to be and those are your only two choices, I'd say go to Nova, bust your ass and hope for the best.

No, originally from outside Philly. You?

originally from outside philly and still live in the area.  did you make it up for any of the admitted students days?  I met a girl who went to GW and graduated a couple of years ago who is making the same decision you are.

btw, stateofbeasley and 50 Lifter are the two I've seen here that are currently at Temple Law.  May be worth PM'ing them with questions about the administration.

Yes, but I'd like to get a feel for the University in general (although hearing about the LS's administration is helpful too!)

I went to GW as an undergrad and it was tooooo bureaucratic--such a hassle to get anything done right the first time around.

are you from DC originally?

The only thing I didn't like about come of Temple's classrooms is that some of them had the lecture seats attached to the floor!  I know it's such a small detail but it really bothered me.  The devil's in the details...

Overall though, the facilities were very nice and pretty modern.  The library, like Jdubs said, is big (about 6 floors I want to say).

Congrats on your acceptance Ripper813!  Since you've been at Temple for 4 years, would you mind telling us what you think about the University?  I'm particularly wondering if it's real bureaucratic--does it take forever to get things done?  Thanks for your insight!

Moni, I don't want to speak for Ripper, but I thought it important to note that the law school has a completely seperate administration from the undergraduate university.  There are some Temple 1 and 2Ls floating around on these boards who may be able to answer your question though!
