Incoming 1Ls / Re: Who's moved already to their new city for LS?
« on: July 27, 2005, 08:56:20 AM »
I am moving to Queens on August 7...I am from Upstate NY (near Buffalo).  Although I will still be a New Yorker, it is going to be a huge transition (public transportation, inflated prices)  I'm definitely nervous!

Queens is not bad.  I lived there for 10+ years.  :)

As for me, I'm moving up to Syracuse from North Jersey on Saturday!

congrats kitty!!!

Financial Aid / Scheduled Disbursment
« on: July 13, 2005, 07:47:52 PM »
This is my first time appyling for any kind of private loan, so I'm not quite sure how things work.

My loans (I'm going with Citibank) are already set for disbursement on August 18.  However, my bill says tuition must be paid in full by August 1.  Does this mean I have to come up with the money by August 1st to meet the tuition deadline, or will this count as anticipated loan and be credited from my statement?

Also, how do I get the rest of the money?  It seems the bank disburses the money to the school, so does this mean the school give me a check after August 18?

Any response will be appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: Special Summer Program?

Did you decide to try the NYLS AAMPLE program??

I decided to go to Syracuse.  I was admitted through the LEO program.  It's some kind of miracle, I know.

Good luck at CUNY, they didn't accept me.

You don't apply to a conditional program; your application is considered if your numbers (usually your LSAT) fall below the median, but you show potential.

Another school that offers the AAMPLE online program is New York Law School.

Congrats to Shadow and Kitty for completting the program and good luck!  I'm sure you both did well!

Financial Aid / Re: Interest Rates

I wonder if I can get a better rate using other lenders.  I guess it's time to shop around...

Financial Aid / Interest Rates

I applied for a private loan through ACCESS and was approved for LIBOR Rate + 3.75% at an interest rate of 6.6 %.  I thought I wouldn't get approved based on my credit and would need to co-sign with my parents and get a better rate.  Would you happen to know if I can still co-sign with my parents, even if I can get apporved based on my credit alone, to get a better interest rate?
Thanks in advance.

Financial Aid / Re: Perkins loan

If you were awarded a Perkins Loan, all you have to do is sign the Master Promissary Note to accept it by going here

I think you have to have been awarded the Perkins Loan, you can't apply for it.  Not sure though...

I think that link should work, make sure you can open pop-ups.
