Is everyone on this thread a virgin?

uh oh....passed over from people are picking on you territory, to people are picking on you, and you're giving back irrational answers that are about to incite more picking....not good  :-\

Acceptances / Re: USC!!!!
« on: March 09, 2005, 09:31:35 PM »
Wohoo my first choice!

Acceptance came in a huge white packet with their emblem on the front. I'm a regular admissions applicant.

Question for those considering USC. In the Enrollment Responses Form, do you think it is better to check "I cannot confirm my plans at this time. Please reserve a seat for me in the fall 2005 entering class. I need additional time to make a final decision for the following reasons:" so that I can possibly get more money with scholarships? It allows me to list other schools...I'm thinking that if I list my UCLA intentions as well as other schools that it might sway them to cough up more money. I guess it doesn't hurt right? After all they don't require a deposit until May 31.

Congratulations!! I checked the can not confirm, but please keep me around box :)

Hey, I'm just sticking up for sarcasm...nothing personal with anybody, but this board is far to quick to chastise anyone who is "rude."  Like I said, lighten up.

i agree with the lightening up  :D but not with hurting people's feelings  :(  humor can be a tricky subject!  some people i know are born funny...they have a knack at doing it, and even insulting wihtout me noticing cuz i'm laughing too hard...but some people, not funny, just hurtful even though they dont mean to be

Alhtough I have no clue about what goes on within the walls of Cardozo, I think they must be somewhat cometitive (and a bunch of bastards if you ask me...) The only reason I even bothered to apply to Cardozo is b/c I got a fee waiver so I thought, what the hell? a non-reach school in NYC, why not... Anyhoo, got waitlisted although I have decently high scores. Maybe its just my bitterness speaking, but I am NOT impressed with Cardozo...

but you got into nyu......i really want to get into nyu....

how weird!! I really don't know much about the appeal process of financial aid, but if you can find osmeone who has it done (preferably successfully), i would imagine that would be the most help!

No they told me that I am NOT getting any money from them.  I was surprised.  They accepted me 72 hours after they received my LSAC report, leading me to think that they really wanted to have me.  I guess I was wrong.  I thought that my low GPA was the problem.  But it turned out that it is actually higher than Skainch's.  I also have a very good (for Cardozo) score.

St. John's offered me a full tuition scholarship and Washington St. Louis is giving me 24K over three years.

I really thought that they would give me a scholarship.

Do you think I should appeal this?

go the the admitted student website and pose this question to current students.

Congratulations on the scholarship offer.  I find their scholarship decisions very interesting.  I have a higher index number than you (and I am also an URM) but they would not offer me a penny, let alone $17,500 per year.

I've also heard it is pretty competitive and I am also nervous about the 3.3 minimum for scholarships.  How much did you get, they gave me $17,500 a year?  Would you choose this school over George Mason?  I am trying to pick between Mason, WUSTL, and Cardozo.  I also am looking at patent law and Cardozo's #6 ranking in IP makes it appealing, but I'm not sure if that can make up for it's lower overall rank in terms of ease of finding the best job after graduation.  I haven't visited their admitted student's website yet, but I know their curve is printed there.  I'd be interested in what you find out/decide.  I am going to visit this school in April, but that will probably be a little late in the decision making game.

!!! if you have a higher index (i.e. higher nrs), you should go for nyu or columbia, (forget cardozo!)  arent their scholarship decisions still trickling out now?  so yours might be somewhere in the mail :o)   i think it's weird they didnt give you one yet also.... makes me kinda worried that they are just giving to people who they think will lose it after a year or  something, and maybe i'm just one of those that falls in this category.

wouldnt the admitted site be kinda biased though? i'm going to try that though anyway! :o)

Actually they offered me nothing until I e-mailed Dean Schwartz myself. He worked out a little money for me but not quite enough for me to disregard George Mason and definitely not if the curve makes it really difficult to maintain a 3.3 (which is pretty steep).

Love,
Q

If my boyfriend wasn't in NYC, I would SERIOUSLY be considering GMU, because I have instate tution and the possiblity to keep my job part time....sigh....tooooo many decisions!!!!!!!!!!

I also posted on xoxo, and someone there said their curve right now is 3.0, but they raised it to 3.2 for next year, (which is kinda nice).  i got 25k.  i think this definetly sets it george mason for me, but i havent done enough research to say that with complete certainity.  do you mind expanding a bit on why you think it's hard to be competitive in the job market after going to cardozo?
