Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Sports Law - AGAIN?

i agree with futurelawyer.

as i'm hoping to find employment in the field myself, i've done a decent deal of research and talked to a few people in the business.  a few things keep recurring:

- get the "piece of paper" wherever you can (JD)
- network your ass off keeping in mind any sports-related angles you can take
- try your best to get a sports-related internship after 1L, even if it's not exactly related to the law, and even if it's non-paying

aka get your foot in the door, show you have experience dealing with at least one organization, and graduate.  take 'er from there :)

i'd check out the students and graduates board, if nothing else.  you'll have to re-register a name to post i think.

i'd like to see what these same video game all-stars would do if they had to sit on your couch and watch you shop online for a couple hours.

Well, if we had continually whined about it, we'd risk being accused on nagging, bitching, etc.  Mine was great in pretty much every other respect, so I just dealt with it.

i would have worked on a compromise.  obviously you had one hell of a problem with it.  and in this situation, whining/bitching is 110% warranted ;)

you girls dated a handful of slapdicks who would sit and play video games while you watched?

edit: annnnnnndddddd, you would give them multiple hours before having a problem with it?  lol.

PS what does "pm me" mean, I'm seeing that phrase all over these boards

if you click the "im" balloon under someone's avatar (on the left) you can send them a 'personal message.'  that's a pm.  you can read them with the '0 messages, 0 are new' link at the very top of the forum pages.

Is Duquesne and the surrounding area walkable? Where is a nice, safe place to live that's within walking distace to the school, if anywhere?

from what i understand a lot of duquesne students live in the southside, across the river from duquesne.  what i don't know is if these people walk over, bus, or drive.  i would assume bus for many.  duquesne is very walkable.  outside of campus is much of pittsburgh's financial district, and point park (if you walk far enough).  some areas outside campus can definitely be described as ghetto, but you can avoid those easily ;)
