You're saying that from the perspective of a Woody Allen fan, and many non-Woody Allen fans can't sit through half the films you mentioned with falling asleep or committing Woodycide.

I love David Lynch, but I'm not fooling myself into thinking his films are brilliant- heck, I'm convinced half of his stuff is made up on the fly.

Anarofsky (sp?) gets a big fat "F" from me, because "Requiem" was such a terrible, horrible, tenaciously stupid film.  I could care less how pretty it is, if I feel that bad through an entire film.  A friend of mine has a rule... if the lead character makes it out, but with a limp, he's not interested.  Well, this movie, the guy with a limp was the BEST OFF of the entire bunch.  I haven't seen "Pi", though.

Not everyone agrees!

I half-liked "Clones" and truly enjoyed "Sith."

And hey... more folks saw "Sith" than all of PTA and WA's films combined... heh.   ;D

Michael Mann needs to get an editor, but I love his work.  Looking forward to "Vice."

Seriously, though... I haven't even watched "Ali" because I'm tired of 3 hour movies.

Did I mention Crash?  I did, but I should mention it again.

Capote, too.

I like Titanic- I think it's a good (not great) story, the effects were first-rate at the time, and I found the leads very believable... but I like Leo, so that may be why.

Jarmusch is losing cred with stuff like the last "Coffee and Cigarettes", I think.

Cronenberg is gaining cred fast with "A History of Violence."

Scorcese got ripped way too much for "Gangs", which I thought was very entertaining, and Stone's so inconsistent he's impossible to take seriously.  Spielberg's consistency is a massive saving grace.

I do love JFK, though... that picture blows me away every time I watch it.  I liked Zissou a lot, but I'm in the massive minority with that opinion... mostly because the tone of the film turns so down at times... but I love the soundtrack.  I even picked up Seu Jorge's solo album on the basis of his Bowie songs.

I hate Virginia.

Almost everything about the state, with the notable exception of Busch Gardens.

I lived there for five years, so that's probably long enough to complain.

Woody Allen.  And I hated Spielberg before it was cool to hate Spielberg, but probably after it was cool to be self-aware of that fact.

You could've left out the Woody Allen part, and we would've all figured it out from the comment on Spielberg.   ::)  At least Spielberg challenges himself, and the viewers.

I guess Woody challenges us to care that he's still making movies...

I'm not really in this conversation, but I've been sold on Chris since his audition.  At the Final 24 point, I was pretty convinced it'd be Chris and Nanny McPhee at the Finals, and I haven't been given any reason to sway from that opinion.

Elliot makes me want to strangle him when his voice goes into unnecessary runs and variations, but I recognize he has a very good voice nonetheless.

Grandpa Clooney has a lot of charisma, but he cannot dance, and his voice isn't near the others.  Plus, how could a guy who looks like he's 40 and sounds like Michael McDonald make the grade on the teen popster charts?  No Idol there!

Anyone else notice that on the last show, McPhee sang from her knees and Paris sang on her back?  I think this was directly correlated to Chris singing on his back when Andrea Bocelli was on the show- they wanted to prove their pipes were on the same level.  </conspiracy theory off>
