Been complete @ W&M, W&L and UNC since October.  Going crazy.  Tried calling W&M yesterday and kept getting an answering machine - my guess is that they got sick of talking to anxious status checkers.  I called last week (anonymously of course) and they said decisions would be mailed this week...

i agree it's worth a shot, but it's pretty late in the game @ this point since most schools are finalizing decisions this week and next.  if you go for it, i'd definately stick with email!

I talked to some students when I was down there last week and everyone felt pretty good about east coast jobs BUT a lot of people said that career services is pretty much only interested in placing students at really big firms so if that's not your thing it's much harder to get a job, esp. outside of Atlanta.

when did y'all get the invite for the DC party?  I didn't get one  :(  come to think of it though, it might be because all my mail is going to a NY address.  hmmm.

Not sure if I'm coming down for the admit day yet.  Going to wait and see how the rest of the cards fall first...

UNC.  Not as bad as what some of you have experience with NYU and other schools though.

UNC has been by far the most difficult office to work with.  I was down there visiting yesterday and when I stopped into the admissions office to inquire about a self-guided tour (the infamous ms. martin couldn't help me with a tour since students were on spring break) a burly man basically barked me out the door and down the hall to information on the wall by the entrance.  After showing myself around, I thought I'd give the admissions office one last attempt and see if I could get any informatino about the status of my application.  When I gave the woman at the front desk my name she proceeded to tell me that I missed a 1pm meeting with the dean.  I explained that I never made an appointment with the dean and that I received no correspondence about any such meeting.  She insisted upon calling him to tell him I was there (it is now 5pm and I have been travelling all day and am wearing jeans and am generally disheveled).  He comes to meet me and takes me back to his office only to proceed to tell me that he doesn't know how I got a meeting b/c he's not meeting with students right now.  I tried as kindly as possible to explain the situation and aplogize and tell him as much about myself as possible in my 7 minutes in his office, but he had no file or really any idea who I was.  The most information I got out of the whole deal was that I should have a decision by April 1st but if I don't and I have seat deposits due on the 1st (UNC will be pushing their deadline back to April 15th w/ next week's batch of letters) they will pull my file on the 31st and make a decision that day.  I was in tears by the time I made it to the parking lot, and as much as I love Chapel Hill and the programs, etc. it's going to take a lot to get past that experience even if they do ever let me in (which appears more and more unlikely with each day).   >:(

It definately matters -- the Dean told me himself that they received 4,000 applications this admissions cycle - 1,000 from in-state residents who will receive 75% of the seats in the incoming class and 3,000 from out-of state students who will receive 25% of the seats.  But he made sure to point out that "the whole pool is considered together."  Whatever that means...

I think the info on the website is outdated -- the bit admit day is April 9th.  The information was included in my acceptance packet and I was down in Atlanta this weekend and they mentioned it as well.

Just called Chapel Hill and gave them the sob story: coming down south to look @ schools won't have access to the mail, etc. until Tuesday, has a decision been made on my application?  The response: no decision, there is 1 man reading 4,000 applications so when he reads it he reads it.  Glorious.  I hate UNC.

I went down about a month ago and absolutely loved it.  It's a big change from DC, where I go to school now, but it's quaint and historic and the area is absolutely gorgeous.  The law school is on a separate grad campus that is pretty small, but it's w/in 5 mins walking distance of main campus and is right next to the downtown area.  the law school itself is in an older building but has recently been updated w/ wireless, smartboards, etc.  the classrooms are pretty small b/c the sections are small, which is nice.  the library is old but they are in the process of building a new one that is supposed to be finished in a year or so.  i got to talk to a lot of students, and they were by far the friendliest students i've met on my search so far.  everyone seemed really laid back, they all socialized together, and it seemed like a real community rather than the cutthroat atmosphere i've found at other schools.  overall, i absolutely loved it and i'm just praying i get in and can put this whole law school search/nightmare to an end once and for all!
