Choosing the Right Law School / Re: George Mason, Rutgers Camden
« on: January 14, 2005, 02:17:14 PM »
My friend had the personal statement comments in his acceptance letter last year.  Unfortunately, I think it's pre-fab.  Sorry guys!  I'm sure your personal statements really were great, though!!  ;D

I have good friends at both of these schools and bascially what I can say about the two is that GMU has a significantly better reputation, particularly in the DC metro area.  If you want to practice in Philly or NJ then Rutgers is probably a better choice for you, as my understanding is that it is a pretty regional school.  Living is cheap in Camden, but it was just recently named the 6th most dangerous city in the U.S.  Living in Philly (which is about 5 mins from Camden) is probably comparable to the cost of living in northern Virginia.

I think GW and GULC see such high numbers because a) they're in DC and b) they both have excellent part-time programs that are attractive to young professionals (hill staffers, etc.)

Does anyone known when we can expect to hear from UConn.  I've been complete since mid-October and haven't heard a thing since...

I don't know how many GULC gets, but GW is expecting 12,000 this admissions cycle.  That's a lot of applications!

It might be in your best interest to apply to some others, it looks like some of those schools might be a stretch with your numbers and it's always better to be safe than sorry.  My numbers are about the same and I applied largely in the 20-40 range.  Good luck!

Has anyone heard from these schools in the last few weeks?  Although I'm below the median for both of these schools, I'm dying just to hear something!   :-\
