Acceptances / Re: UIUC?

UIUC is an LSAT whore.  I'd be shocked if you're not in.

Even though I applied so late?

I didn't get anything about the event from them.  Maybe that means you did get in, and I guess I didn't. My file has been complete for 3 months, I thought the school went out of business.  Good to know they are alive.

Are you from L.A. or S.F.? Because the events are only there so it might mean nothing. Also, even if they did admit me, that doesn't mean you didn't get in. They might still be reviewing your app! Best of luck!

Acceptances / In @ UIUC w/ $$!
« on: March 17, 2005, 12:51:41 PM »
I got an e-mail from UIUC about a Class of 2008/Alumni event in L.A. next week. Does this mean I'm in? I just barely sent in my app last month. They never sent me a complete notice. Is this just a generic mailing to all pended apps?

ETA: Woohoo! Just got the call two seconds ago from the admissions office. I was so flustered and I totally was rude to the lady, I feel so bad. Stuck at work so I had to keep the conversation short. But they offered me 10K/year. I am so excited! OMG, what will I do now?!

P.S.
maka nani: "The Last Unicorn" is the best movie ever.

I second that! I heart that movie!

Thanks Matokah for the pics and the reviews! I really am hoping Cardozo will disappoint me so I can make the practical decision and go to Loyola, but we'll see ;)

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Loyola LA Money Info
« on: March 17, 2005, 01:06:39 AM »
i have 5 schools to hear from, so i dont know yet. nothing is set in stone till i gots all the info.

lucky eh?  ::) ya know i hate when people that get something great get snotty and say "i am not lucky! i earned this! i deserved this!" certain URMs attending stanford, etc come to mind...

i do feel lucky. i feel very grateful. it isn't a "omg, i won the lottery!" kind of luck, but i could have been passed over...and i wasnt. and for that i feel lucky.

That is a great attitude. I am grateful for any and all acceptances being humbled by my GPA. I wish you the best of luck on the rest of your apps. I'm sure you'll get in a few more.

Hey, may I ask how you computed the 2.6 GPA?  LLS uses a different point system, and I am curious as to how you figured this out (http://reg.lls.edu/gradesandrankings/jd_grades.html)  Thanks!!

They are changing their grading system and said that the median would be a B-/C+ so I think the scholarship must be set at median level.

I can't because I'm going to be at Cardozo on that day but I will be there later in the week on the 13th. You'll have to tell us how it goes if you are going.

hmm, well i just called loyola TOO and the guy i spoke to said that he cant tell me anyspecific info, but that all letters went out on monday.

Okay, does this mean all award letters or only people who get scholarships? I'd also like to know about loans since I probably won't get a scholarship.

Too bad Loyola isn't as nice as USD.

For some reason, I HATE, absolutely HATE that it is detached from the undergrad campus. Some people like it, but I don't, and that's one of the reasons I did not apply to any stand alone law schools

The asst. dean actually addressed this. He went to U of Florida and said he had a hard time studying because Undergrads would go to the law library because it was "quieter". He also said it was easier to be around other people who are going through the same thing as you are. I'd have to agree with that, but I still wish the neighborhood was better.
