"many schools inflate their “selectivity” by giving fee waivers to applicants who have no chance of getting in.  NYU is reported to have pioneered in this arena, but many others have followed suit."

really.  are we?  perhaps I am crying over spilled milk about the waitlists.  or Hastings being the first school i applied to and the last to let me know (ya HEAR me???? HUH?!?!?)

I think they make it seem harder than it is and we are all giving in to the madness.

what was theinterview like?  I wrote them to request one (and to take me off the waitlist), but i was wondering what they actually ask...
do they grill you?  ask you to expand on your app?

personal message me if you want.  I am just curious:)

eek.  construction is no good...

i am going to try to call again to see if i can get a tour.

any ideas on what i need to see or do when i am there?

ooo, and how hard is it to find a place to live?  I have a dog and was looking on craigslist for other cities (also just seeing what was there) to see if there was any housing that was labrador friendly, but davis is so small it isnt even ON there.  i mean, its rural, right?  so if there are cows and stuff, there has to be SOMEwhere that allows stupid, fat, dogs....

where else did you get into?

I personally am not going to go unless i get a full ride.   but its because i have a lot of money elsewhere as well as an instate...

the decisions are rolling in tho... when it rains it pours!  waitlisted at USC and Vanderbilt, but still totally happy i wasnt flat out rejected, and then an accept to Davis. phew.  saved me a couple hundred in deposits.

davis was funny- i thought i wouldnt get in, they seem to reject a billion people, but then when i got the letter the dean wrote a little note on it just for me in his writing!  (turns out the head of admissions went to the same undergrad as me.  thought it was sweet and personal- so not what i was expecting from law schools after going through this madness)

anyhow.  i think you and i are cool ambs.  hastings might lets us in.  I think since we missed the last batch you and i are in the same pile and they are just waiting for someone to cancel before letting us in:)

yeh, i know what you mean about not knowing what to expect.  isn't it bizarre and RANDOM about who gets accepted where?  I was thinking it was all about numbers... but i REALLY don't think that is the case anymore.

anyhow, i think it might be good they are hanging onto our apps- really- it means we are wanted, but there isnt space. yet.

whats your first choice?

yeh i am excited.  it is nice to know i got into one of the good uc's.  I flew to san fran yesterday for the dya, but since i didnt have a car i am thinking of checking out Davis in a couple weeks.  I don't really need to sit in on a class, but a walk around campus and talking to some students would be really helpful i think- so if any of you know someone at Davis, let me know.

I just feel so lucky right now.  I was originally thinking i wouldnt even get into Loyola LA and now here i am waitlisted at Vanderbilt and USC.  Even the CHANCE of getting in makes me smile...  anyhow, no matter what happens I feel good about getting into such amazing schools:)

any of you know someone from davis?

or how to find out the percentages of waitlist acceptees?
