and don't forget that little "who you know" thing.  it's absolutely invaluable, and from what i understand you'll have all sorts of opportunities to meet people.  it's what you do once you meet then that counts.

lauralynne: i assume you received a phone call from the dean of admissions at duquesne to let you know of your acceptance.  did he discuss scholarship info with you then?  or was that info included in the mail you received?  i got a phone call this morning but no scholarship info was discussed.  maybe i'm just wishfully thinking that the info will come in the mail :)

no phone call on either.  both letters, one about a week after the first.  check my lsn account for exact dates...congrats on the acceptance

Goodadvice is silly...but good thread nonetheless.

I plan on being comfy. And, to save money, I had my hair dyed back to its "natural" color...highlights are going to be too costly. I'm sad though, now a brunette where I was once a blonde.

going to have to do that too  :(
plus stylist is here...
too much $$$

Maybe pay for grooming expenses by reducing your food budget? Reducing the food budget by only $15 per week should be enough to pay for all your hair coloring and styling. Especially if you're carrying a few extra pounds. (Not that Redsox is carrying any extra weight.)

you've got to be kidding me.  i don't think you'll last in LS...just a hunch.  go f yourself.

I was awarded a full scholarship at Duquesne in Pittsburgh.  Great reputation in the area, but 3rd tier.  Also accepted at Pitt (assuming I'll get some money...thinking about $8K), but in top tier.  Also has good reputation in Pittsburgh.  Have applied other places (ie GW) and would love to go if accepted.  Would it be suicide to go to GW and incur all of that debt when someone is willing to pay for my whole education here (i'll have to sell my house, find an apt. in arlington that accepts large dogs...etc.)?

Not sure where I want to live after LS.  Wouldn't be too upset if it has to be Pittsburgh (i grew up here).
