Incoming 1Ls / Hitting the gym in law school...
« on: March 27, 2005, 10:36:23 AM »
I currently go to the gym 3-4 times per week, two of which I teach Spinning classes.  I'm thinking of continuing to teach, but changing from 6:30 pm to 6:00 am classes.  Then, maybe working out the other times in the morning as well.  I think being physically active is going to be so important to my sanity; taking out the stress of LS on the treadmill or spinner will feel great.

What are everyone's plans for continuing to stay/beginning to be physically fit while in LS?

I have a 3 1/2 yr old boxer, Ella.  She's going to live with my parents for the 3 yrs. I'm in law school.  Spending most of my time in class/the library/mentally unavailable, I'll feel extremely guilty that she won't be a high priority in my life.  Plus after selling my house, and moving to a small apartment, the 5+ acres that my parents live on will be very appealing to my pooch.  I'll still visit her once per week when we have Sunday family dinners.  So, if you're going to Pitt, have no family in the area, and you become my friend, there may be homecooked dinners in your future!  :D Haha.

It is in both the handbook and on the student resources area (both online).  The handbook is very helpful.  Long, but helpful.

I'll be at Pitt too...and the open house!

My only issue is that I have committed to paying 1. mortgage (+ insurance) and 2. car payment (+ insurance).  Those two things alone "living expenses" plus tuition more than max me out for the amount of money Pitt certifies me for.  Plus, they didn't approve me for any need based aid.  Is there a way to get the school to up the certification amount?  Or, will private loans cover more than the certified amount?

Hey Laura I just saw you're a PSU grad and you're already living in Pittsburgh.  What year did you graduate?  I wonder if I saw you at the bars in State College.

Hey Burgh,
it's probable.  i graduated in 2002.  was in a sorority (pi phi).  frequented the gman, cafe, darkhorse, big easy...

EDIT: And, I'll be at the open house on the 8th as well!

Well, I withdrew from Duq.  So, hopefully they'll filter out that scholarship $$.  I'm living in Pittsburgh now, so it doesn't really matter if I sell my house or not.  Stress has left the building for the moment.

For anyone else who's decided to go to Pitt...Give me a holla!  We're going to be classmates! :D

Not gross, but really funny.  When my girlfriends and I are out for the night, and we're walking in the city, my friend will break away from the group, and she'll act like she's about to hurl just as innocent pedestrians are walking by; actually dry heaving with her hands over her mouth right at them...Freaks people out.
