« on: January 04, 2005, 02:22:58 PM »
1. the changed name is wahat brought me here.  i do feel welcome...thanks.

2. i have a migraine and i am home from work today.  what a nice way to ring in the new year.

3. despite the migraine, i am obsessed with checking a. my email, b. lsn, and c. lsd to see if i can be expecting acceptances soon.

4. migraines suck, but there's a new drug approved to PREVENT them (topamax), and a side effect is weight loss...could there BE a nicer solution?

Acceptances / Re: Got a few letters today

Congrats!  Did Pitt give you $$?

All I got was junk mail...the junkiest junk of junk mail.  And a Victoria's Secret catalog, but I get one of those every day!

Recommendations / Venting about a former prof turned recommender
« on: January 04, 2005, 01:38:02 PM »
So, I had this prof in college who directly supervised me throughout an internship.  She was such a hard-nosed b*tch about deadlines and accuracy and thoroughness.  So, I asked her to write a LOR for me, thinking that she would be the same as she had expected us to be.  Her her husband is even in law school, and I thought that maybe he would clue her in to how important the LORs are (if she didn't already know).  (And, it was too late in the game to get the paperwork to someone else...)Well, I had to call/email her a million times to get her to send it (and I made it as easy as possible with self-addressed stamped envelopes and labels, etc.) and when she did send it, there was a huge error in the return address.  I asked her to fix the error and to return the letter to the LSAC, and the b*tch never did it.

Now, I feel obligated to throw everything back in her face exactly how she did to us when we were undergrads.  Burn the bridge to a certain extent.

She was my only prof to write a letter, so I'm just sending it with the address error...hopefully they'll pin the fault on her and not on me.

Sorry...just venting. >:(

I've been reading that a lot of ppl are being notified before snail mail by email.  I keep checking LawSchoolNumbers.com to see if anyone has updated their profiles with acceptances from my schools...we all are psycho.  I want to put my notice in with work like yesterday.  :P

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Re: Pre-LS books
« on: December 30, 2004, 05:19:29 PM »
i almost never studied as an undergrad, but do all my work in LS. i've made it through fall semester of my 1L year, and did every single assigned page of reading. was it a lot? sure. was it fun? not really. was it so much work that a mature adult can't get it all done every week? nope.

some people just like to brag about how much work they're doing, or not doing. or they like to get attention by telling everyone how stressed out they are and how hard they're working. screw 'em. if you get your sh!t together before you start, block off your weekends for reading, and show up to class every day, law school is entirely manageable.

That's refreshing...and just the type of students with whom I like to surround myself.  What LS are you attending, if you don't mind my asking.

How do y'all feel about it?  I'm thinking I'm going to be the suga-momma for a stay at home dad.  I don't know how I feel quite yet...

Can I ask you an honest question? What do you look like? Are you hot? Can you do better? If he's really good looking and you're not, then maybe fair exchange.

I am hot.  But I'm in lourve baby!  He's hot too, both looks and in the bedroom.  He can keep my home and keep me happy (he's very generous...if you know what I mean)

Maybe he can do an ebay business on the side...haha...

And, where oh where has my thread gone...you guys are sick...(Won't lie, I kinda like it.)

I read 1L in like 2 days.  It wasn't as scary as I thought, but I felt bad for his wife.  I've told my BF that I'm going to be non-existant during my 1L.  Definitely a good read.

Love to see others that will be living off of ramen.  Unless I can get my bf to be my suga-daddy.  *He should, considering I'll be his for the rest of my life!*

What's the best "this is the way to approach class" book?  Any suggestions?

ALSO, there's a book about women in law called "SISTERS-IN-LAW".  Kinda like a "Devil Wears Prada" meets "Law School Confidential".  I looked at it at Barnes and Noble the other night, but relates more to post-law school.  Great no-brainer read, but with some valuable info!

Law School Applications / Re: Dec Test Takers: Any fee waivers yet?

That is a great looking dog on your picture.  My boxer died last year and I still haven't gotten over him....

Sorry to hear that.  I actually was having a conversation about that today.  I don't know what I'd do if Ella was gone...she's what keeps me sane!  She's 3...fawn, not very flashy...
