Law School Admissions / Re: Need help military guys......
« on: December 03, 2004, 08:43:50 AM »
Hey guys, thanks for the help.........

For now my "control" branch is Military Intelligence, but I'm listed as inactive....... no OBC date like my peers.... Then during my third year of law school I'd apply to JAG and assuming I don't fail the bar exam, be reassigned over from MI. Hope that sorta clarifies my ed delay "status"

Obviously UVa is way outa my league, I was just trying to use an example... but as far as the schools I'm applying to: Houston, Texas Tech, Kansas, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Texas Wesleyan.... and I've already been accepted to  St. Mary's and Tulsa....

Realistically I can see myself going to either Houston, Kansas, Ole Miss, or Texas Tech....... but I'd like to apply to one or two other schools with a good bar passage rate.

Anyway, I appreciate the help........ two big things I'm looking for are bar passage rate, and affordability......

War Eagle! Sorry, couldn't resist....I'm a fellow Tiger....

Like Tejas said, you're good, I nearly made the same mistake too though....

Are you from Texas? I am so I'm lookin to head back home for law school, UH is prob at the top of my list....... took a visit down there and walked around STCL and UH, both seem pretty solid, STCL's library is enormous, cool lil rooftop terrace/garden overlooking downtown too, UH on the other hand, went for the underground library (prob to get away from the humidity/heat) but also seemed like a pretty safe bet......

Venturing even farther off topic.........Are you part of the pre-law group at Auburn? And has Ms. Littleton been as vague and unhelpful to you as she was with me?  :-[

Law School Admissions / Need help military guys......

.....New poster, but I had a few question for any of the military guys on the boards.....

ROTC senior, bout to commission in the spring, and just recieved an educational delay for law school, heard conflicting stories about FLEP and just decided an Ed delay would be a better fit for me....anyway, Anyone else going this route? Know anyone who's done it? Etc....

Also, Are there any particular schools that offer in state tuition to guys in my situation (2nd Lieutenant, but inactive and not "assigned" anywhere)? Obviously most schools only offer in state rates to guys in the Guard or those stationed locally, but I was wondering if any school(s) is/are overly nice to servicemen......No more scholly money  ::)

Last question, but just in general, are there any schools particularly well-suited to the military types? I'm guessing St. Mary's (due to being in San Antonio), or UVA (JAG school) are somewhat partial, anywhere else I might get a few extra points? History of producing JAG guys, ex-JAG Corps heavy faculty, etc....

Basics about me......average white guy, 3.53, 156, a few clubs/honor societies but nothing really outstanding, so gimme some realistic options......
