don't worry too much. my lsat college mean wasn't all that high with 3. something gpa mean. I got into several good schools.
nonetheless, someone I know of who graduated from ivy with my gpa and one pt. lower lsat score hadmore success than I did.
so yeah, I am sure the college you went to matters, but not by thaaaaat much.

Put on hold at U Chicago. I'm one of only 4 on LSN put on hold in the latest batch and they don't seem to be admitting many with my numbers outright so I'm not too pissed about it.
hold too.

Now you guys have got me thinking about Contiki. Part of me thinks it would be *too* touristy and American, but another part of me realizes I have no idea what I'm doing on my own. And they do have a lot of options. More thoughts people?
considering contiki too for exact same reasons. check this out: http://www.ultimate-european.com/

should I expect the same for northwestern? I've never been to chicago, so I don't know a whole lot. but I've heard that uchicago is in the ghetto and nu is in the nicer part of chicago. does that make a difference in social scenes? 3 months later . . . .
First off, I went to UVA undergrad and my wife is a PhD candidate at UChicago (I also lived in the close-in DC burbs for 3 and 1/2 years after undergrad. The U of C scene is not fun - there are 3 bars, all of which are pretty lame and dominated by hard-core intellectuals in thick, dark-rimmed glasses. I've met some really nice people here, but not so fun. I lived in Hyde Park for 9 months; I've been on the North side for a year and a half now, which is much more fun than DC, but it's a serious hike from Hyde Park.
UVA is fun. I was in a Jewish fraternity (ZBT), so we probably had a disproportionate share of New Yorkers, but there was a great friendly north-south rivalry there. Charlottesville is a great mid-sized town with clearly delineated bar scenes for undergrads (the corner) and grads/yuppies (downtown mall). Although it's in rural VA, it's a different world; I grew up in Waynesboro (1/2 hour west of UVA), and THAT town is redneck. UVA law especially is a national school - you won't feel out of place as a southerner.
I'm just hoping I have the UVA option - it's my #1 choice easily over U of C (and I have a couple connections here, so I might have a shot). Good luck - you can't go too wrong.

Asia is great, Barney. It is so much cheaper than Europe so you can stay a lot longer without breaking your wallet.
Any recommendations as to where? Like I said, Vietnam sounds awesome, and I've heard good things about Malaysia too. I'm probably dreaming, cause I have no money, but it'd be sweet!
thailand - kosa mui, pipi, puket india - goa beach cambodia

Has anyone tried one of the Contiki trips to Europe or even Australia? While I think it would be a great adventure to travel alone I (and of course my parents) are a little nervous about safety. Contiki was suggested to me as a solution but I don't know anyone who has gone on any of their trips.
I am thinking about contiki too. my friend went thru it and recommended it.
