Studying for the LSAT / Re: I'm going out of my freaking mind

This has been a very long week.

yes it has been..

yeah I think I can go anywhere from 4 to 13 wrong. I am hoping the # of wrong Q to be somewhere in between those two numbers. But I still find myself worrying (even though I know it is a waste of time and energy) about missing 5 more qs than my worst projected number... I hate paranoia.

Studying for the LSAT / Re: Were you one of these LSAT test takers?
« on: October 06, 2005, 11:08:37 PM »
I was kind of survival kit guy in June, but only because I had a cough, and I desperately didn't want to be "irritating coughing chick," so I brought a bunch of water, cough drops, tissues, etc.

And, ok, I brought a timer and six or seven pencils 'cause I'm anal retentive, and several layers because I hate being hot or cold when taking tests.

I tried my best not to be the "irritating coughing chick." But I think I coughed big time twice during the test. (spitting out the green mucus.. it was disgusting)

The proctor bitched to someone else for having candy on his desk. I was really scared about taking cough drops throughout the test cause I thought they were gonna take it away (I was sitting in the very front row).but after my big cough, even though she saw me eating my cough drops, she didn't say anything..

I also had a buncha tissue on my lap. 6 pencils, and my almost broken timer..

Studying for the LSAT / Re: LSAT--concentration problems
« on: October 06, 2005, 03:41:04 AM »
Hey folks, I have a problem, and I am curious to know if anyone who can relate to this has any suggestions.

First, I have taken 3 diagnostics (158,146,146--the latter two being taken in succession on one afternoon).  I correctly answer 75% of questions (closer to 85% for games) when I work on blocks of 25 outside the context of a test (although I do allow myself only 35 mins).  Inside the context of an exam, I decline in percentage correctly answered with each successive section (regardless of subject matter)--the most drastic decrease occurs in the 2nd section.  Ultimately, I think the fact that my concentration is breaking is what is causing me trouble.  Thus, I am curious to know what remedies some of you have tried (successfully) that has helped your concentration or bolstered your stamina.

Let me also say that my goal is to obtain a score (DEC 05) that will give me a fighting chance at getting into a 3rd tier school.

I recommend trying gingko.

haha ryan, you and your gingkos..

ginseng is really good too~ if you can bear the taste.

I seriously think there is a post lsat syndrome.. I still cannot sleep for more than 5 hours on top.. with 4 hours being the average. I started having nightmares last night about my score. why can't they grade the scores in like 1 week when every other damn thing in the world seemed to be developing with the wonders of the technology.

SCREWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW this

yep,I started with maybe getting half the questions right. For all my prep tests (I canceled last dec, had done all of them, went thru them again twomonths before oct.) the most I've missed was two. I went thru the LG bible three times. (twice last yr for the dec. test, and again this yr prior to the two months prep.. for boosting up/reviewing things)

Do an hour game drill every day. If you even miss a question in a game,do them over and over until you can recite the rules and inferences in the game.

I personally re did the games (or any other questions I've missed in other sections) twice: 2 days after the exam, and a week after the exam.

I have a hard time setting up the grouping games. Most of the time i am confused as to which variable to use as the base variable. Any advice on that would be appreciated. Thanks.

You mean the ones with In/out, On sale/Not on sale, with a lot of conditional rules?

Those weremy weakest points too! I think I grouped them all together and did them like 5~10 times over and over again.

I think I will be the chinese artist with SCAR tattooed on me.. I think I can totally pass for chinese. Korean,Chinese,Japanese..eh no big difference right?

Totally irrelevant, but two encounters I've had the last summer when I was visiting my friend in the bay area.

a) in front of uc berkeley

A guy hitting on me: Oh hey,so where you from, youlive around here?
Me: no, I'm actually living in Korea right now.Just visiting some friends here now
A guy: Wow, which korea are you from?I know about that dude with the nuclear thing. Are you from the North or the South?
me:-_-

b) somewhere else that I don't remember

me: yeah,I'm Korean
the white guy: wow, can you say my name in korean?!

Oh oh, and this was a few years back,

a:Are you chinese?
me: no
a: Oh Oh, then japanese?
me: no
a: (with a really confused look) then what are you?
