Acceptances / Fodham Scholarships?« on: March 03, 2005, 05:58:00 PM »
Has anyone heard anything from Fordham in terms of merit-based scholarships. I'm being horrible about filling out my FAFSA, (tonight, I swear) but I just want to see if maybe people are hearing anything from them - they've been pretty mum since I got accepted back in January.

So, apparently, I didn't know that Columbia needed a crazy Dean's Certification so I am not yet complete. Now, as a lazy second-semester senior who would rather not see any more evil rejections in her mailbox - is it really worth it to go through all the hassle of getting this certification to actually go complete? Or would that effort really be in vain because I'm going to get rejected anyways. Clearly, I'll never know if I don't try, but, let's be honest. Do I have a chance in hell?

Got the letter today - 12,000 a year scholarship. I was so ready to definitely not consider the school in the running any more. And now they go and make it so difficult.

Got a big old binder from WUSTL today. The pretty pictures make choosing between law schools so difficult. Meh.

Law School Applications / Duke Complete - Patience?« on: February 21, 2005, 10:36:52 AM »
So I just got a complete email from Duke this morning at 830 --- THey threw in a sentence about appreciating my patience and blah blah blah. Is that normal? Or are they running slow this year? Because I'm getting a touch stressed about the lateness of my going complete, looking on LSN and seeing that I my lack of fighting chance BEFORE is now even smaller.

Studying for the LSAT / Kaplan Summer Job« on: February 18, 2005, 04:29:02 PM »
How would one go about working for Kaplan (or another test prep company) over the summer? I'm trying to figure out how I'll kill time this summer - and it seems like a good option. Is there a minimum LSAT or something??? Does anyone know how much it pays? Any info would be fab.

Call it extinstential crisis - but for the past six years I've loved loved loved constitutional law - particularly first amendment. Hence, law school applications. However, are there any real "constitutinal law practices" out there? I assume the answer is no. Are there any real options besides working a big law firm and being able to do pro bono on the side for cases I find interesting? There isn't so much an application process to nab a spot on the Supreme Court.

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Need new laptop« on: February 18, 2005, 03:01:14 PM »
I'm looking for a new lap top and I was wondering if anyone had any advice for what to look for -- I've had HP & Compaq PCs during college - they were pieces of junk. My current HP sounds like a dinosaur (literally moaning all loud) and is held together with packing tape and a bottle cap (the fan cover needs pressue on it to not sound even WORSE so the bottle cap is the perfect size on its side.)
In any event - any there any brands of laptops which hopefully won't need twine and burlap to function three years down the line? Any other advice specifically about what to look for - I'm trying to stay under $2000. 19

what is George Washington's placement like in NYC law firms? Compared to Wash U or Fordham?
