I would say to go with UIUC -- huge Chicago connection -- not just with OCI or what have you -- but a really great alumni base. In terms of location -- you'll be so busy in law school that perhaps it would be wise to talk about what the library looks like -- but the city (or lack thereof) isn't going to be somewhere you're going to be seeing a lot of - whether it's cornfields or NYC.

Question about fall recruiting: since the firms won't have any first year grades when you apply -- if you're not attenting a top-14 law school and didn't go to a ivy undergrad --- is there really any point in applying to top law firms? Especially if you're right out of undergrad and don't have any stellar work experience. Or is there a realistic change for the non-ivy students out there?

So Wash U is pretty much out of the question.
BUT If I want to work in NYC, make a lot of money (let's not lie)& be happy -- make a decision for me! What would be the best place to eventually land a firm job in NYC? Fordham? Or would it be USC cause it's the best school out of the bunch? 6

So I got a phone call from the Michigan campus today, but I missed it and they didn't leave a message. I have no friends who would be calling me from a campus extension - does anyone know if Michigan calls their applicants before making a decision? Could this be amazing, thrilling, ridiculous news?

No EA, no deferrment - this is actually the first thing I've gotten form them since I went complete around Christmas.
Right now, USC is in a fabulous & deadlocked four-way tie with GW, Fordham & Vanderbilt. And I have, what, ten days to decide? 8

Officially, now, I have an even smaller clue of where I want to be in the fall. I know I want to stay on the east coast probably - but three years in Sunny California might be too hard to pass up! 9

Yeah, definitely thinking about NYC post-grad. I feel like Vandy might limit me to the south & GW would limit me to policy, not firm work. But I'm pulling those assumptions out of my ass.
