Just checking in as usual. If some of you are the same cats that were applying from the 2005 cycle (2Ls now), hello! So, tonight I just found out that I've been named the next Chief Notes & Comments Editor of my law journal! I'm super excited to earn a top 6 position and hopefully (aside from the fact that I like my journal) put me in a better position for a federal clerkship. Hope you all are doing well.
PS Anyone heard from Mobell or BlkReign lately?
Congrats! It's been a long time since I've seen you on. How the hell are you?!
Thanks! I'm doing well. How about you? Now that you've made it through, what are you plans? BTW thanks for your encouragement early on! Speaking of money, I got the raise, too. My firm was one of the within 24 hours piggy-backers. The best part is that they're going to pay the summers accordingly!

I'm a Civ Pro wiz. I thought it was difficult but I definitely excelled in it and remember it the most. It's also my favorite subject. I highly recommend the Sum & Substance Audio CDs by Arthur Miller. I'd also be happy to give anyone my Civ Pro flowcharts and outlines. (Remember that when using someone else's notes who did not take your professor, to adjust as neeeded.)

As usual, only popping in when I have news. My summer is set! I will be on the West Coast at a large firm for 6 weeks (within top 30 on the Vault) and in Houston at a large firm for 6 weeks (within top 10 on the Vault).
The Houston firm has been my dream firm since I started school--I just didn't think I'd ever get in! Woo hoo!
(Sorry, for leaving out details, I've gotten really touchy about being google-able lately.)
Hope you're all kicking ass and taking names as well!
CONGRATS!!!! Keep up the good work. Best of luck with the summer at the two firms.
Must be something in the water because I also just received my full time offer upon graduation from a large firm in NYC (different from the one I worked for this summer) so provided God blesses with again with passing the bar I will officially be starting my legal career in NY next September.
Awesome work Sands! Congrats!

I go to UH, I love it. I am currently sitting on 2 offers. 1 on the West Coast at a large firm for $100k and 1 in Houston at a very large and prestigious firm for $145k. I had to hustle to get the jobs because I'm not on law review and I'm only top 1/3. The point is that it can be done from UH. Overall, it's really worked out. I have no regrets about my decision. Good luck. Come to UH!

Just popping in to say hi! I want to shout about this all over LSD to all those people who thought I'd never make it in law school because of my LSAT. Instead, I thought it would be better to share with supportive folks.
I kicked but last semester. Finished the year in the top 1/3. I'll be on the Business and Tax Law Journal next year. And I'm getting published with my judge three times!
Haven't read the rest of the thread. Hope everyone did well last year and is having a great summer.

Just wanted to say welcome y'all! Look for an email from SBA soon. We'll start having get-togethers and happy hours for committed 1Ls next week. First one will probably be on Wed 6/7 at Dietrich's on Montrose.
Also, keep your ears open for info about bookswap where you can buy your books cheap with notes and stuff already in them.
PM me if you have any questions. It may take me a day or 2 to get back to you, but I will do so.
