Are you related to Jessica Simpson, EM?  I know that she was born in Waco but grew up in Dallas.

Nope, nor the Springfield Simpsons.  I'm from Michigan, originally, then all over the East coast.  We do get occasional calls from people, too foolish to realize that Jessica's number is unlisted, working their way through all of the Simpsons in the Waco phone book.

I'm sure EmSimpson is going to raise the Spring admit stats from last year all by himself. You stud, you! ;)

I am a spring chicken myself, that's why I did you find out?

I received an offical acceptance letter on Nov. 4th.  Then again, my application may well have gotten early attention due to a funny exchange of emails I had with the admissions office that alerted them to my numbers.

How is it that everyone seems to know whether or not they got a scholarship?  I thought that info was going out in January...

Not for Spring chickens like me.  We start class at the beginning of February, so Jan. would be a bit late...

Baylor only gave out 3 full scholarships in 2002 - 2003, so that's more the reason to think lightening may strike twice.

I can't for the life of me find it now, but I clearly remember looking at a table that showed 3 "full scholarships" and something like 17 "greater than full scholarships", whatever the heck that means.  Anyhow, I suspect that full rides are about as frequent as UMHBmom's anecdotal evidence suggests.  Speaking of which...

Ya know, I read that about Baylor scholarships, too. I felt all special, but a quick trip here and to LSN and I think someone musta robbed a bank between then and now. I've "met" at least 7 people who've gotten full rides so far, including you and me but not counting EmSimpson who did and won't say so (c'mon!!).
Yes, I've gotten a full scholarship.  I didn't mean to be coy.  :)

Studying for the LSAT / Re: "Only if" conditions on the LSAT

Yes, it's a necessary condition.  If he makes pasta then he has tomato sauce, or conversely, if he has no tomato sauce he won't make pasta.

It's the whole getting a 3.92 GPA in math AND a 178 that scares the poo outta me....  ;) The man must be the human equivelent of Big Blue.
I feel like a geek just for pointing this out, but I "only" got 3.81 UGPA  ::)  My wife would be the first person to point out that my strengths are amply balanced by my lack of common sense, general awareness of my surroundings, etc.  So, be not afraid  ;)

Probably has multiple felonies and gonorrhea.

Hey, now!  Let's save the trash talk for finals week!  8)

Mercutio - Is it true that if I come in there and have more than $500/mo to spend on housing I could make out with a Deluxe setup?

Here's a sample of rental housing from the Trib:

Zap-- are you serious?

Er, me?  Totally serious.  Is "Zap" jargon that I'm unfamiliar with?  ???

I'm going to law school almost exclusively due to an interest in IP (I'm a programmer), and despite the lack of IP specialization at Baylor I'll be there in the spring.  The impracticality of moving anywhere had a lot do with that, but eh.

Join us.  Jooooiinnn ussssss...  8)

just curious, i saw your AWESOME stats on lsn, how come you're only applying to baylor? congrats on your admission and great score/gpa

Thanks.  I live in Waco, my wife's family lives here, and we have four kids (one going to MCC, getting her sh*t together to go to Baylor).  I'm going to continue to be part-time system adminstrator and maintenance programmer for our family businesses once school starts.  Frankly, I can barely imagine commuting as far as UT Austin, much less out of state.  From what I know of Baylor, it'll meet my needs, so it's the only place I applied.

Where is this new place going to be? Definitely sounds like a nice place to study.

It will be much closer to McClennan Community College than to Baylor, actually, at the corner of Lake Shore Drive and 19th on the north side of town.

It's up to her, but I'm sure something will be arranged by then ;)
