what about deep throat?  Can anyone argue his info wasn't accurate and real?

that's my point.  i don't think it's reasonable to summarily dismiss information just because it comes from anonymous sources.

...because we all know how well it worked for Newsweek...

read what they actually wrote, forrest.

I listed the article to show the problems that can come from relying on sources....unless of course you think Newsweek didn't have any problems as a result of that situation...

federal authority can be evil depending on who's running the show and which perspective you come from, but history attests to the fact that it's necessary (see civil rights struggle).

wasn't hurricane andrew also quite devastating?  and wasn't the federal response to that disaster quite acceptable?

Actually, many people in Florida thought Bush Sr. was too slow in response and didn't care about Andrew.  You would think that his son would learn from that mistake.

Not a prob....BTW, how the culupas up north?

1. There are no Mexicans here.

2. Ergo, there is no Mexican food.

3. I can't even buy a decent package of tortillas.

I'm gonna have to make my own...

well, he should be booted from office if he is in the KKK.  no debate there.

but WR was much more powerful and a bigot all the same.

I'll bet you weren't saying that when that controversy came about...in fact, sounds like you haven't even heard of it.
No i havent heard of it, but that doesnt change my opinion about it.  WHen did it come out?

He has only been in washington since, say 1953.  Not long at all.

point?

Point being some people have a great ability to overlook things in their party while yelling about others....thinking Trent Lott's comment about Strom Thurmond (http://archives.cnn.com/2002/ALLPOLITICS/12/09/lott.comment/) when they won't do anything about their own.

It's a good thing it wasn't a covenant barring blacks from buying the property or there would be hell to pay.  and the dems continue to have the voice of the KKK sitting high up in the senate without question.
sorry, come again?

how about a bigot on the SCOTUS?

I was just beginning to like Roberts, too...
Any bets on who the next nominee will be?
I'm nowhere near close enough to the beltway to even venture a guess...

How much do you want to bet Bush is going to wait to name a more conservative judge AFTER Roberts gets confirmed
