well, i talked to admissions and they said with my work experience (i have been at the Los Angeles DA's office amongst other things in the public interest area) that I could expect something.  supposedly- they LOVE LA people too. I think it has to do with spreading the seed, ie, cali kids go to madison, come back, have good things to say about the school, and when they are in the position to hire, then madison will have more connections.

I am sure that the diversity plays a role on top of the networking, but all in all, they really seem to want ya to go there.  Really- the admissions office KNOWS me.  they remember me!  who can say that for ANY california school?!

Yeah, I remember them being INSANELY nice when I called them a while back.  I'll start poking around about $$ when I call them.  I could definitly see myself going there... but paying 26K a year while the locals pay 9K will make it a little tough to swallow.

Madison is looking like the best option.  I think i am getting a good-sized scholarship, and i will still be able to have a rockin' education without putting myself into $150,000 debt.

Oh... and why do you think you're getting a scholorship?  Have you heard anything about that yet?  My numbers are comparable to yours (162, 3.57) and I have yet to hear anything.

well. first of all, madison is a highly ranked school, the admissions staff seems unnaturally NICE....

I am still secretly hoping someone at one of the UC's will pity me and give me a ton of money so i can stay in-state:)

I'm a California guy (by way of Michigan... but I've been in LA for 7 years), and I'm currently in basically the EXACT same place you are in terms of price vs. Cali schools, etc. etc.  Right now, Madison is looking really good.

As for the admit day, I definitly want to head out that way in March, but the first weekend might not work with my schedule.  I'm going to call Wisc tomorrow and see exactly what's going on that weekend, and what some other options might be.

I've heard rumors of an admissions weekend sort of thing happening soon... but not in any official sort of way.  Anybody hear anything about that?

I forgot to add - did they mention any merit $ during your conversation?

Stats: LSAT 162, LSDAS GPA 3.57.

And she actually left a voicemail... so it was pretty vague.  "Hey, you're in, way to go... we're sending you stuff."...  that sort of thing.   So... no clue on the $$ issue.

Good luck w/ the Feb LSAT!

I just got the phone call for full-time acceptance.   :)

Me too.  Not at all shocking.  Doing the math, if I was one person in a room of 100... Harvard would've, at most, been interested in accepting my legs.   ;)

He said there is an admitted students open house on March 4-5 and I do plan on attending.. maybe I'll see some of you there?

Did they say if/when they were planning on releasing any info on the open house?  The website info is still a year old.

Ready....   27!   I was so paranoid that I wouldn't get into any place, I just went nuts.

Got my acceptance today.  Small envelope, but stuffed pretty full.  They're offering 20 grand the first year, renewable each year after based on class rank.

LSAT: 162, LSDAS GPA: 3.57.
