General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Re: Best Laptop for Law School?

25% off of Dell Inspiron Laptops at their "Home" site until Wednesday June 15th!  Just FYI... but I think I'm going to have to get mine now!

Unless you get the 2.55% rate, it sounds like THE is a better deal because you get the 1% rebate as opposed to .5% after 48months at access (on private loans).  assuming that the rebate doesn't change much

I got 2.75% at Access Group, and went with THE for the staffords.  I would have considered THE for the private loans, but the 15 year pay-off period worried me.  I don't plan on taking more than 15 years, but should I suck up the place and end up as a public defender making $32,000 a year... the wiggle room will be nice.

Wait List / Re: Minnesota... from deferral to wait-list
« on: May 18, 2005, 06:15:31 PM »
Good luck, but don't expect any money if you get in.
That said, probably quite a few folks who were deffered and then admitted will decline for this very reason, and thus more people will be taken off of the WL.

Here's hoping that's true.  ;)

And just when I was expecting a rejection... the plot thickens!

Acceptances / Re: Decided! Finally! Wisconsin!
« on: April 22, 2005, 12:25:24 PM »
Here's a question:  Anybody start looking for apartments yet?  What are your plans, housing-wise?

I'm a little nervous about it, since I'm on the other side of the country and will have to fly out to go apartment hunting.

Anybody know any good areas in which to live?

Acceptances / Re: In at Davis
« on: April 15, 2005, 09:54:16 PM »
Davis has been torturing me for months.  I would very, very seriously consider attending if accepted.  I applied in October, and been on hold since January with a 162 and an LSDAS GPA of 3.57.

Hear that spying adcoms? (I know you're there.) I would very, very, very seriously consider attending!   ;)

It looks like I'll probably be ending up there, so I might just take you up on your offer soon.

Thanks!

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Being a 1L and 1st year of marriage

[same here...but I'm draggig her along

Yeah, mine's a teacher, and since we're still not 100% certain of where I'm going, she signed on for another year at her current school.  The thought was that if she followed me without a real job and had to work at the Gap or something while I was in school... it would just make things too hard.  She'd hate her job, she'd be lonely in a new place... and I'd be too busy to pay much attention.  We figured it'd be much easier to give her some time to find a real, full-time job before following me.

I just got engaged, and I'll be getting married AFTER the 1L year, and we won't be living near each other for that year.  So, I'm curious to see what people have to say as well.
