Acceptances / Re: In at Wisconsin!
« on: December 14, 2004, 10:39:30 AM »
Here's a quesion:  Has anyone received the Scholarship and Grant application form?  They said they'd mail it out some time after December 1st.

Acceptances / Re: MSU

I know that Spartan Stadium is a good place to watch a football game.... but that's about all I've got for ya.   ;)

I basically looked at places that I have a 15%-20% chance of admission and thought "Well... That's 1 in 5ish.  SOMEBODY has to get in!"

Denials / Re: Anyone fear a ding from a safety?
« on: December 10, 2004, 05:28:12 PM »
My GPA is under 3.00 and I'm applying exclusively to T1 schools, most in the top 30.  There is a legitimate chance I could go 0 for 14.  My GPA is well below the 25th percentile even at my "safeties".

That's a ballsy move.  A tier 2 isn't going to kill you.  You can start off in the area surrounding your school and always move to new cities as your career moves along.

Denials / Re: Illinois ding-a-ling
« on: December 10, 2004, 05:22:39 PM »

"the adcom would like to enourcage you to apply for admission as a transfer student if you find yourself achieving success at an ABA approved law school.  If admitted, we will be delighted to award you a $500 book certificate for use at the College's bookstore upon your enrollment as a 2L."

OK, the ding blows...  but the letter is classic.  "You suck... but look!  Free books!  Maybe."

I applied there as well... if you don't mind me asking... what were your numbers?

Wait List / Re: UMinn
« on: December 10, 2004, 02:03:08 AM »
Sigh, Minnesota is one of my top choices and now I'm getting really freaked out hearing this from all of you. Waiting till May would definitely suck.

When were your applications complete and when were your letters dated?

Thanks.

I sent in all my stuff early in October, but they didn't request my LSDAS report until November.  The "You're deferred!  Mu ha ha ha ha!"  letter is dated December 3rd.

Hope that helps!

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Minnesota

Deferred...  Got over a 50% shot on Chaishu...  so I guess we'll see how this plays out.

I got defered too.  I guess we'll see what happens.  I've over a 50% chance of acceptance according to Chiashu.

I'd almost rather they hold off on sending something until they know.  Still, that "We'll let you know by May" thing is nonsense... don't most schools want a commitment in April?

That's too bad, man.   :(

I'm hoping to hear from them soon... so I'm curious about your stats as well.

Reviews, Visits, and Rankings / Re: Loyola Law School (LA)
« on: December 08, 2004, 07:51:27 PM »
Eh... Loyola's fine.  There are some older buildings that are in a state of disrepair around there, but it's right down the street from Staples Center, and that whole part of downtown is booming with development.  New condos, etc.

I wouldn't call Southwestern sketchy either... but it's in a less desirable spot than Loyola.
