Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Where should I be applying
« on: December 07, 2004, 02:03:58 PM »
I have almost the exact same stats and I am applying to NYU, Columbia (although I don't really have a chance here), Northwestern, Berkeley (a pretty good chance here) and Chicago-Kent, U of Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado (all safeties)
Let me know what you decide!

Choosing the Right Law School / school for 165 LSAT?
« on: November 18, 2004, 12:57:28 PM »
So a 165 puts you a little under all the best schools and a little over all the average --where to apply now?
What do you all think?

so my third recommender sent me a copy of the rec and it is pretty blah -- kd is a good student, a good worker and will succeed in law school -- that's pretty much all it said.  Should I send it at all?
My plan was to only send it to the schools that recommended three, but not to those that didn't specify.
Do you guys think a so-so rec actually hurts someone at all?
It's from a local attorney that I took one class with and then worked for.  He knows me really well, so I was surprised that he didn't put more effort into the rec., but I think he thought he was writing an excellent rec.

It sucks that the Chicago schools drop from Chicago/NW all the way to Loyola/Kent.

I wish that there was an "in-between" there.

Me too!
But I feel that way with all the schools.  There is a huge gap everywhere.  I am looking at Fordham..what are other schools in its range?

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Critique of my Application Outlook?

I think all your extras (Peace corps, master at Harvard, etc.) you're the 165 LSAT that they actually let in at these schools...unlike me with my state U undergrad degree and sorority activities.  Anyways I think you've got a great shot at over half of the schools :)

Just throw the application out. You don't want to come here, trust me...

are you just kidding... or please tell us more about Fordham??

I am applying to Loyola-Chicago too.  I think they still want them to be like normal personal statements with anecdotes or interesting stories.  I think they just wanted to define the topics more and make sure that people really are interested in the school i.e. extra work!

Law School Admissions / Recommender sent me a copy
« on: November 09, 2004, 02:57:27 PM »
Help!  One of my recommenders sent me a copy of the recommedation and he wrote at the bottom of the rec that he sent me the copy!  I signed the LSAC sheet that waived my right to see it, but he did it anyways, do you guys think it hurts me?
