Law School Applications / Re: J.D. Worthless if not practicing law?

that's med school in a nutshell

I have two friends in med school, and one that did a phd in bio at nyu and took some classes with med students

Contrary to popular belief, med school is actually quite a breeze, especially when compared to every other doctoral-level graduate degree

Although, to be fair, you have to do an internship and a residency before you can make any real money actually practicing medicine.. but that can be as short as three years, depending on the specialty

I was planning on going into medicine so I spent quite a bit of time looking into these things

I think it depends on the class rank you're shooting for :)

If you want to graduate in the top 5% of your class, then you're going to have to put in more time and effort

The smarter you are, the less time and effort you'll have to put in..

The faster you read, the less time you'll have to put in..

Anyway, I'm fairly optimistic.. let's see how things turn out next year :)

Med school really isn't bad at all

Most med schools are on pass/fail or high pass/pass/low pass/fail

And if you fail you can take the class again in the summer

You just memorize some biochem, memorize the different parts of the body, do some rotations in the hospital.. not bad for a guaranteed 100k+ a year for the rest of your life, more than double that in some specialties

Our numbers are similar ceasa, you should have some much better safeties based on those numbers, like Minnesota, GWU, BU..

They all accepted 90% or more of applicants with those numbers last year or the year before

My kids are gonna do a 6-year BS/MD and then whatever they want to do after that is up to them, but they'll always have that MD, for 2 extra years (although they won't have the 'typical' undergrad experience, which will be a good thing if I have girls)
