Where should I go next fall? / Re: Hastings' Status Check

As of today I am now "in review" boys and girls. I hate this whole thing! Now my daily mailbox checks will have my heart thumping even harder....

Meriweather,

What are your remaining schools? What are your reasons for leaning towards Davis?  I would appreciate any info you have for me.

I am sending decline letters to Emory, Tulane, USF and USD pretty soon. I would like to work in CA, so I feel like the decision is pretty easy for me.

Nothing yet on covering plane tickets, but I will let you guys know.

Hmm. I will write them and see what they say. Thanks.

I checked option two and told them I was waiting on some schools. I was thinking about making the trip out there but New Orleans is pretty far away and it was kinda last minute. I am looking for cheap flights but it probably won't happen.

What do you guys think about Davis? I am leaning pretty strong at this point.

Does anyone know about the social life in Davis? Things to do etc. I assume it is mostly undergrads getting *&^% faced at a select few local bars. The lack of distractions could be nice, but I will need to do other things to relax to keep myself sane. I guess Tahoe is close.

I have heard Hastings may have a slight edge with SF employers, however I am concerned when I hear about their grade scale and the fact that to make law review you need to have one of the top 15 GPA's for the whole class. We all need to nail that first year hard and I am wondering whether Davis might be better for me. I don't think it would be easier necessarily, but it might have an environment more conducive for me to do well. Also, Davis has a law review that anyone can write on to, there is no GPA requirement.

I am in at Davis and still waiting on UCLA, Hastings, Boalt, and USC.
