Wait List / Re: Michigan Continued Interest Inquiry from the Dean
« on: June 16, 2005, 05:07:55 PM »
I think it's very nice that they send such solicitous email to the whole waitlist. I will give myself a day to think and then probably say no thanks. I just wish NYU would adopt more of Michigan's attitude and not be such tools to their waiting listees.

I got the email. I'm planning on UVA though so not sure why I'd want Mich. What are you guys going to do?

Hm. I looked at the Kinesis one but I wasn't sure b/c it looked so weird and I only had one recommendation on it. I went and got the Adesso Tru-Form, but if that doesn't do the trick I may switch to the Kinesis. Thanks!

Nope. Mine had four or so. Here is the link for changing your alias: https://www.itc.virginia.edu/desktop/email/aliasreq/aliasreq.html

That other link I posted is the one to get started. You will just have to ansewr those questions like Pigtails said. Have some fun and answer them without reading the questions!

I feel your pain Pigtails. I'd never home hunted for more than a week before looking for a place in C'Ville. I almost gave up and picked Ivy too, but the fella doesn't want to be surrounded by law students (it seems he had a lousy experience meeting neighbors & friends of a Georgetown law student) so we got a downtown spot instead. I don't know if it helps, but I made the presence of a dishwasher a make-or-break in my hunt. law school= no time to wash dishes by hand no matter how meditative and rewarding it might be!

I believe my admission letter to PILF said they'd had 600 applicants. I know they like to see candidates who have taken some time to work and pursue their interests. I don't think those are the only candidates who get in, but it does offer a chance to show you're committed to PI stuff.

I decided not to go there b/c of the lame LRAP situation and the massive debt I'll be in. I had many pangs over this decision. Maybe they will improve their LRAP soon.

Charlottesville Towers Condo downtown. I have my fella to live with, so as long as he gets a job we can afford the $950. Plus it will be a nice break to study in the Mudhouse or go to shows downtown without worrying about parking. The only sad part is three miles seems almost too far to bike to school. Of course, I don't even have a bike yet...

I am going to toss all my furniture and buy new (used) when I get to school. I'll just take my linens (high thread count is so nice, and so easy to get from Overstock) and my memory foam pad. I have the 2 inch one, and it is so, so comfortable. It almost doesn't matter what kind of mattress you have underneath.

I agree that laptop in lap is more comfortable than on table. However, that brings in the problem of the screen being too low. Ergonomically, I should be able to see my screen without tilting my head down. I'll just deal with it at school, but at home I want to be as safe as I can (I've had serious problems before).

I'm toying with the idea of a laptop stand, but I think it will work better for me to put my laptop up on some books and my ergo keyboard down on my keyboard tray.
