Wait List / BC Preferred Waitlist
« on: February 09, 2005, 09:39:06 PM »
My roommate called me up today while I was on campus and told me I got a thick letter from BC and that it was probably an acceptance because it wasn't a standard thin one sheet letter. He got me all excited I told him to open it for me and he started reading about a "Preferred Waitlist". My favorite line from the materials they sent is "some people liken the wait list to flying standby on an airline".

Is anyone on BC's "regular" waitlist, can anyone verify if there really is a distinction?

Anyone sharing time with me on the preferred list? Anyone know anything more about this list?

It's depressing to read that they probably will not go to this waitlist until June 1st, 2005 or later. BC was one of my top choices. :(

Does anyone know if any of these schools (listed above) send out e-mails first before sending you the official acceptance letter? I know Brooklyn does this and I heard George Washington does as well any others? Also do any of these schools besides Cornell have an On-line status check?

Just curious if anyone has heard from Fordham after being put on their infamous interim pending list. Also has anyone just been flat out waitlisted at Fordham or is this IP list just an inbetween step?

Studying for the LSAT / The New LSAT?
« on: February 05, 2005, 03:46:15 PM »
This is supposedly one of the hardest puzzles on the internet. Its not a typical puzzle its more like maybe one of the Myst series type games. You need to use resources on the internet and your wits to advance through levels. Warning now this is addictive for anyone who likes a challenge and there are known to be at least 80 levels. Who knows this might be what future LSATs look like!

Check it out: http://deathball.net/notpron/

I'm working on level 15 now.

Law School Applications / Georgetown went to "Decision" today
« on: February 03, 2005, 12:37:36 AM »
Although Iím hopeful, realistically I'm nearly certain a ding is on the way. How long does it take to hear from Georgetown once your status changes from complete to "Decision".

I guess I luck out in that Georgetown takes the higher LSAT, what do you guys think my chances are of this being a non-rejection?

I sent an additional letter of recommendation to LSAC for processing, once completed LSAC it appears randomly chose which schools to send it to. A majority of the schools I wanted to receive it did not. It's been over a week and it appears the new rec is now stagnant and LSAC has no intention of sending it to the other schools that did not receive it.

Is the best approach to write my schools and have them individually request it from LSAC?

There is no way to put in a manual request via the website, and e-mailing them is like getting a response from an Altavista Translator (when I e-mailed them about this issue last week they basically said all the school operate differently in the way they request reports, which did not help me at all figure a way to get all my schools this new rec).

Law School Applications / LSAC is stupid
« on: February 02, 2005, 05:09:59 PM »
There is a way to submit transcripts from my school via the web so as soon as I received my new grades for the Fall I had my newest transcript sent to LSAC using this service. After this was done I realized this may not be the smartest idea since updated transcripts usually need to be accompanied by a form for processing. I decided to call LSAC, while on the phone with them they informed me they could not process any transcript which did not have the LSAC form attached. This worried me so I went to my registrar and had another transcript sent with the form. Low and behold the LSAC genius I spoke with did not know what he was talking about, when I called a second time I was informed all transcripts are reviewed as a requirement and any changes are noted and automatically logged regardless if the form is included or not. The latter turned out to be the case. So I e-mailed LSAC twice letting them know what happened and to please disregard the second transcript as it was an identical copy of the first. No response... I e-mailed them again to ask them please not to process them both... again no response. Needless to say they sent out two identical updates to my schools despite my frequent requests not to. So LSAC is pretty useless. I don't know what type of employees they have working there but it seems it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize if two things are identical one cannot be an update.

Do you think this makes me seem disorganized in the eyes of law schools? Do you think this surge of duplicate paperwork is going to reflect poorly or have no affect?

Personally I don't think it matters much, but I still think LSAC is pretty lame and I'm glad this wasn't a more important issue.

I have two updates I was considering sending in to my deferral schools:

    1) An additional letter of recommendation from a Dean in my department.

    2) I submitted a manuscript to the Journal of Law and Human Behavior on juror decision making and personality theory. I was considering sending a copy of this manuscript in.

Do you guys think it's a good idea to send these both in?

Law School Applications / Fordham Deferral
« on: February 01, 2005, 09:06:16 PM »
I was just placed on Fordham's fancy named deferral list which they call " Interim Pending ". I got the notice today. Are any fellow LSDers sharing this experience? Anyone know anything about this list or how it works, how popular it is ??
