Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / USD full time waitlist
« on: May 23, 2005, 09:24:22 AM »
A few people were wondering about getting off the USD PT to FT waitlist. I originally applied to the day program with the option of part time if I was not accepted. I got my PT acceptance at the beginning of may. Surprisingly received my acceptance off the waitlist for full time at the end of last week. Good luck to everyone else waiting.

I bought an HP NC8000 off ebay for $800. 2 years left on warranty. Same laptop is available brand new direct from HP for $1500 with 3 year warranty.

1.6 centrino, 512 ram, ati 9600, 5 hour battery life etc.

If you know what you are looking for ebay is great. You can buy brand new laptops with full warranties for a fraction of the price. Always pay with a credit card in case something goes wrong, and buy from sellers with good ratings. IBM sells refurbished laptops directly from their own website, dell might as well.

Try searching ebay for dell 6000, ibm t40/t42, dell 700m, they are selling from 900-1100 new with warranty. Don't buy anything without a warranty, make sure seller will take returns on DOA (dead on arrival) laptops.

Boalt discriminates against people with low GPA's, this guy is just mad they don't treat asians as URMs. It's not like he had to go to cooley because of the rejection, northwestern is ranked almost the same as boalt.

Financial Aid / Re: Credit Score

I think Northstar T.H.E. is easier to get private loans through, they didn't have as many restrictions on credit history when I looked on their website and they took the credit score from transunion which is my highest. I got approved through them without a cosigner, supposedly their rates are good too.

My CC companies report monthly, so if you were to pay off your cards now, then wait a month or two you might get quite a bit of a rating boost. Assuming that you don't have any late payments and a couple years history.

I just bought a comparable HP NC8000 through ebay, with a 2 year warranty, $800. Same memory/HD/cpu. I like the HP's because they have a 4 hour battery life and ATI Radeon 9600 video cards. I didn't see a place to plug in a laptop during class so I think battery life is quite important. No fingerprint reader though. I've seen the IBM's and they are very nice, I was looking to get one actually but the HP came along at the right price.

I'm planning on getting an external 200gb HD for storing big stuff.

Those things are annoying as hell, if they really wanted the item they could just pay people to give them referrals, there are websites already set up for that.

Those supreme court clerks are also top of their class at harvard/yale, officer positions on their respective law reviews, and have excellent recommendations from the court of appeals judge for whom they clerked after 3L.

I would reapply. You could get a full ride from a 10-25 school and your career options would be far better. Since you don't want to do that though, go to IU. Considering your GPA/LSAT you should be able to stay in the top 25% at IU.
