Congrats.  Duquesne is a fine school and will suit you well if you planning on working in Pittsburgh.

I will go with the generic answer:

If you want to work in Cleveland, go to Case Western.  If you want to work in Pittsburgh, go to Pitt.

How about if you want to go to Case Western and want to work in Pittsburgh?  Do you think I'd have a shot?

Beside from the obvious slight ranking difference, anyone have a preference, and why?  Thanks in advance.

I think they're being overly cautious this year.  I got flat out rejected with a 3.31/156 which gave me an 80% chance of getting in.  From the looks of it on lawschoolnumbers.com, you're not alone.  I wouldn't worry about it.

Congrats Troy.  I'll be there next fall.  Maybe I'll see you there.

I'm pretty sure that was a deferred admit from last cycle

I don't think so.  There was someone (janelane2) listed on there for a while that looked like a deferral from last year.  A new one (cartwright05) was added 1/08 that applied 11/01/04 that was accepted 12/28/04.

I also call BS....and I am truly sorry if I am wrong...but I called Case last week and they told me they had yet to look at any apps that weren't ED....of course they could also be BS-ing

I haven't heard anything from whoever started this thread for a while now, so let me ask you about the conversation you had with Case.  Did they say when they intended to get to us?

It looks like someone on lawschoolnumbers.com got in Regular Decision.  All ED applicants heard by 12/20 and their decision was 12/28.

Why Duquesne?  I looked, and looked, and looked, but I just couldn't.  I just couldn't dig it.

I applied there as a 'safety' because I plan on living and working in Pittsburgh after graduation.  Duquesne is highly regarded in the Pittsburgh area and they tend to take care of their own.  Most of the major firms in Pittsburgh recruit from Duquesne.  I'm not sure if the degree travels well.  If you don't plan on staying in the Pittsburgh region, it's probably not for you.
