Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / Re: Samford Visit

As far as computers are concerned, they of course did not mention a specific brand but they definitely want you to have one (though it is not a requirement)

The housing I looked at started about $700.00/month so I would jump a the $500
Sandwiched between Hoover and Vestavia Hills, housing is just not going to be cheap.

HTH but I have since moved more to U. Miss. and away from Samford as they have still not offered me any $$$ as I had hoped.

Thanks Jessievb  :)
I will definatly try to make it to City Grocery while i'm there.
and your not the first person to tell me that it's "a great little town" so that make me feel better about moving there.

Thanks again!

Choosing the Right Law School / University of Mississippi (Ole Miss)
« on: March 26, 2005, 01:12:39 PM »
Looks like it’s Ole Miss for me.

I got my rejection from Alabama   :(  today and I’m not willing to pay the extra $10k a year for Samford (Cumberland), Mercer, or FSU (pending).

Anybody else out there looking at U.M. or planning to attend the April 8th acceptance day?

What about living in Oxford or related topics.

Someone explain how the judge in Florida got away with ignoring Congresses subpoena?  I’m from Alabama and our top guy on the Ala. Supreme Court was thrown out b/c he ignored a federal judge.

Anyways, my two cents on Terri.
I don’t know if she should live or die but I have questions about how aggressive the Florida judge handled the case (he threw out a Florida state law, ignored the Governor’s executive order, ignored the United States Congress, and refused to hear testimony from witnesses that said Terri was not a vegetable AND that her husband may have ulterior motives.)

Conspiracy theory?  Maybe, but it’s worth I to me for a federal judge to hear the case and make sure (err on the side of life).

There are lots of good issues here.  What do you think.

Law School Admissions / Re: Spinoff- Is a JD a Master's or Doctorate?
« on: March 20, 2005, 09:16:19 AM »
ok, so i'm going to put Esq. at the end of my name and check the "Doctor" box when asked.

It seems clear that a JD is a first professional degree at the level of Doctor, and the reason we don't refer to ourselves as doctor is for traditional reasons rather than practical ones.  anybody else with me?
