Where should I go next fall? / University of Mississippi (Ole Miss)
« on: March 26, 2005, 04:12:39 PM »
Looks like it’s Ole Miss for me.

I got my rejection from Alabama   :(  today and I’m not willing to pay the extra $10k a year for Samford (Cumberland), Mercer, or FSU (pending).

Anybody else out there looking at U.M. or planning to attend the April 8th acceptance day?

What about living in Oxford or related topics.

There are lots of good issues here.  What do you think.

Reviews, Visits, and Rankings / Samford Visit
« on: March 12, 2005, 09:42:14 PM »
Ok, some thoughts on my visit to Samford today.

First, Wow!  This may be one of the most beautiful campuses I have ever been to.  A++ for aesthetic beauty.  I cannot say enough about the school of law and the university in general (both inside and out)

The thing that caught my attention the most during the day was not part of the tour.  While walking through the library our guide mentioned that the pile of books and notes sitting alone on a desk belonged to him.  He said that he had no problems what so ever leaving his stuff alone for hours at a time in the library.  This includes notes, laptops, books….anything.  While I might not display so much trust in my classmates, he obviously did and that says a lot about the atmosphere at Samford.

No Wireless Internet??!!??  umm…get with the times.  This could be an issue.

Though laptops are not required, students may take any or all of their exams on a laptop.  This is a big deal for me and I was very pleased to hear it.

Faculty – A
Staff – B
Students – A+
Facilities – A++
Technology – B-
Traffic around school – not near as bad as I was led to believe – very manageable.
Housing – expensive….too expensive

Anybody else go?  What did you think?  After visiting Samfords stock has gone way up.  They are my top choice of accepted schools for me that also include:  Mercer, Ole Miss, Florida Coastal, Miss. College.

Thanks Samford for a great day and an all around good experience!

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Law School Dress Code?
« on: March 10, 2005, 09:07:47 PM »
Ok all you soon to be 1L's.

As an undergrad I (along with everyone else) went to my early classes in whatever I happened to be wearing when I woke up.  Sometime after lunch I would go home, take a shower, and then make my late afternoon classes dressed in some nicer clothes.

Is it different in law school?  Is everyone going to be “dressed for success” when I march in wearing my old navy lounge pants and a t-shirt?

Just wondering.   :P

Law School Applications / Law School Numbers Question.
« on: February 21, 2005, 04:17:36 PM »
On some of the graphs showing who's in/out/pending there is a star representing someones stats instead of a dot.  What does this mean?

Thanks
 :)

Law School Applications / Apply early or with degree?
« on: October 25, 2004, 05:08:58 PM »
My apps. will be ready to go out about the second week of Nov.  I will graduate in the second week of Dec.  Do you guys think there is any advantage in me waiting until i can say "i have a degree" instead of "expecting graduation"?  Or is it better to just get them out as early as possible?

btw: those weapons went missing in 1998 and it was the UN who lost them.  Check it out.  ;)

Just curious as to exactly what you guys want/expect to do AFTER Law School (read: What type of lawyer do you want to be?)  :)
