General Off-Topic Board / Re: Merc just got his 1st quarter schedule
« on: July 04, 2005, 09:30:30 PM »
Nice. I wish Catholic would get off their duffs and send us something, anything. A schedule would be good.

I got a letter from them this weekend saying when to show up at orientation and that we won't get our schedules until then. Waiting is a pain, but then again, I should probably just relax! Six weeks from now will be here soon enough!

...end hijack...

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Pre-Christmas exams?

CUA does.
(I thought most schools did?)

I work from home so I set my own hours.  (I just have a project that came up yesterday and has to be done by Monday... yuck.)  I haven't actually started working this morning, unless you count running around after a 10-month-old as work!

Nice!  lol  ;D

Are you working a full day?

Nope, I'm working today, too.  And tomorrow.  I don't usually work on the weekends, though.  34 days left for me!

Incoming 1Ls / Re: So I bought a new bed for law school...

I agree, having a super-comfy bed is really important and well worth it.  The only problem with mine is that it;s so nice, I sleep in more than I ought to!

I loved Paris but probably wouldn't want to live there long term (i.e. more than 2 years).  Otherwise I am pretty adaptable, so I don't have any real favorites.

Incoming 1Ls / Re: ThinkPad X41 Tablet/Tablet durability in general
« on: June 08, 2005, 07:32:22 PM »
i'm going to check out tablet pcs this weekend to figure out if i really like writing on them.  i think i'll make my decision based on that, but i'm also worried about durability.

I went to CompUSA to try them out this past weekend.  The only model they had out was either an Acer or Averatec, forget which.  (They had sold their Toshiba display model.)  Anyway, I had hoped to try OneNote, but it wasn't installed on the computer.  The writing wasn't as easy as I had expected, I think because the pen was set to hover, so when I wrote it made all kinds of extra lines.  The hover can be turned off but I didn't look at it long enough to figure out how.  Still, I expect it's going to take awhile to get used to writing on a tablet no matter what model one uses... so you may want to be prepared to not like it when you try this weekend.

General Off-Topic Board / Re: Dell Deal - Rate My Package!

That seems kind of heavy to me... but maybe that's not one of your criteria.  What are your criteria?

How much does it weigh?
