Where should I go next fall? / Making a commitment, question
« on: March 28, 2007, 05:19:11 PM »
Question.

Lets say you got taken off the waitlist and the school needs your decision the next day or whatever.  Say you tell them YES, you'll go there and make your deposit whatever.  Is it possible, say two months down the road, to accept an offer from another school or no?

I did.

I think the deal is if you accept it, they want you to withdra from all the other schools.  Sucks huh.

Now, my question is, what if you don't.  What if you commit to them and then someone else comes knocking and you go there instead?  Is it possible?  Acceptable?

Also, did you find anything about money.  Do they even give people like us money?

Anyone else read elsewhere on these boards about Fordham shooting up ten spots to 25 in the new (briefly leaked) USNews rankings? I shouldn't let this affect my decision, right?  Right?  Ugh!!  Not to mention Brooklyn dropped two spots (not as big of a deal, but it's sort of added salt).  Now will I be an idiot for passing up a 25 ranked school??  I'd really like to scream right now.  Anyone care to join me?

Brooklyn dropped to #60?  Ugh.

I'm sorry to be dragging it up again.

I went to visit the school over the weekend and I actually really liked what I saw.  The facilities are pretty good, the library is nice with a lot of space, the programs sound pretty good, the location is right there with the courts, and the housing is just so new and beautiful.  I just don't know how much of a hassle this Part Time thing will be.

So, here's what I'm thinking and hopefully someone could comment on whether it's reasonable and if it'll be helpful.  I want to call both Wake Forest and American U tomorrow and ask if they could tell me anything about their Waitlist status and how reasonable my chances are about getting in.  See what they tell me.  Is it something that's acceptable or will they not tell me anything?

The thing is that if I make commitment to Brooklyn, I'd have to withdraw from all my Waitlists, which I'm very uneasy about.

????

Why do you have to withdrawl from your waitlist schools if you accept Brooklyn? I stayed on some waitlists all the way up until my school started. I got an offer of a waitlist like the first week of school, but by then I was happy where I was at.

That's the kind of offer they're giving me.  They said I'd have to withdraw everywhere else if I made a decision to go there.  It's not right.

Well I would prefer to stay on the NorthEast coast (and in a big city, because I've always wanted to).  But, I am willing to relocate to whereever the school is and then stay there for practice.

Oh yeah and also, one more thing.

How does PT status effect the Financial Aid eligeblity and the current loans I'm paying off for Undergrad?  Would I be able to defer them still?

Where should I go next fall? / Brooklyn PT

Was just notified by Brooklyn Law about my decision.  I applied Full Time, but they're offering me a spot on their Part Time program(and keep on the WL for Full Time).  Basically from what it sounded like, it's fairly easy to transfer to Full Time after the first semester.  I have to make my decision by next Friday.  If I don't take this PT option, they'll keep me on their WL for FT, but she said if there are spots open, they'll be taking people off their PT program first.  So basically I would have no chance otherwise.

Now, my other alternative really are University of South Carolina or Georgia State (in which case I'd move down South and stay there).  The only other option(s) I might have is to get taken off the waitlist at the five schools where I'm waitlisted at, Wake Forest, American, Cardozo, UConn and Loyola Chicago.

I don't really know what my question is, but just wondering if anyone would have a suggestion on the matter.  Take Brooklyn?  Stick with the FT schools and hope for one of the WLs to take me off?  Take Brooklyn and still hope to be taken off the WL somewhere?
