General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Re: Going to FSU

I just noticed these forms on the website. I don't know if FSU has contacting any of there incoming people about them yet.

I spoke to the admissions department a few weeks ago to make sure they received my deposit. When I asked them whether there were any other forms that I needed to send in, they said not right now. They added that they will be sending the forms that you are referring to in June for us to fill out.

HTH.

Yea, I just was on LSN. It appears that a few people had went from hold to waitlist to rejection in the past few days. Things are starting to look pretty bleak. I'm guessing the rest of us should probably hear back this next week.

So you rather spend 150k and go to Miami instead of spending 60k and going to FSU?

While Miami is lower in the rankings, I believe I will probably receive a comparable education at either school. The reason for me choosing Miami over FSU is more for personal reasons. My fiance is currently living and working in the Miami area, so it would definately make being with her easier. Additionally, I was raised in Miami and have worked at UM for 2 years, so I have some attachment to the school.

I'm still positive about Miami. I figure there is a reason why I haven't received a rejection letter yet. You never know how many people will end up dropping last minute.

Acceptances / Re: Anyone hear from FSU recently? Anything?
« on: May 06, 2005, 01:25:52 PM »
It was wierd because prior to getting accepted I received an invitation to their admitted students day through email. I called the school just to make sure that it wasn't a mistake and they said that I was, in fact, admitted. A few days later an acceptance letter was in my mailbox.

They requested a $200 deposit by May 1st. I am guessing that they will be looking to fill those seats that were not filled on the May 1st deadline within the next few weeks.

Well I would imagine that you should be hearing back soon now. It's May, I don't think they will have you wait much longer. If anything, I suppose it couldn't hurt to call the admissions office to see if there has been any change in the status of your application. Also, they have an application status check link on the admissions home page. You might want to check that to see if they are missing any documents etc...

Hopefully something will open up for those that have been placed on hold. I was accepted off of the hold list in March, so I know that they have taken some people. Just be patient.

Dude, thats a bummer. I was really hoping that they would have a few open spots off of the waitlist. Oh well, I guess I am FSU bound.

If you are thinking about moving into Coconut Grove, try to avoid Grand Avenue. Additionally, Brickell is a nice part of downtown Miami, you should be fine there; however, I wouldn't suggest living in many other places in the downtown area. Coral Gables would be a great place to live, although it is pretty expensive.

I just submitted my letter of resignation yesterday. I will be officially unemployed as of July 15th!
