I am in a similar situation with them. I was placed on hold in January and then Waitlisted in March. It sounds like Miami might be thinking that many of the individuals who sent in seat deposits may not end up going this fall and that they want to keep people on a waitlist just in case they dont have enough people to fill up the class. Good luck getting in.

Just sent in my deposit yesterday to make sure it got in before the May 1st deadline. After reading the posts, I'm pretty much convinced that UMiami will not be dipping too far into their waitlist. In the event that I end up getting accepted off the waitlist at Miami, I'll probably end up going there.

Just read this in the news clips sent out by UM. Pretty interesting for those considering going to law school in Florida:,1770,37034-3,00.html

If I'm not going to go to UM I'll likely end up at FSU. I sent a deposit to FIU a while back when it was the only school i was accepted at just to be sure that I go somewhere (oh well, $200 down the drain.) I let my deposit deadline lapse for Syracuse and Florida State's isn't due until May 1st. I'm gonna hold out another week for UM, then send a deposit to FSU if I dont hear anything.

Yeah, hopefully you are right. Still, it does seem that Miami has had alot of applicants this year. I hope something opens up. Supposedly the seat deposit deadline is this friday, so I would imagine that some of us waitlistees could be hearing back as early as next week.

i wouldn't bother. I called the office yesterday and they told me that there are almost no spots left right now...and the deadline hasn't passed for all of their deposits...

pretty grim...

That's really bad news for those of us that were counting on getting off of the waitlist. I guess I have no other choice than to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best (hopefully we'll hear back next week.)

While I am not critizing the quality of education one would receive from the University of Miami, it does stand to reason that the success of its football team is correlated to the schools popularity. If a school is getting  airtime on tv once a week for about 3 or 4 hours, people will notice, especially if they are winning.

I'm a 24 year old currently waitlisted at Miami. The past few weeks have been testing my patience. I trying to remain confident that I will eventually get accepted though. Because my numbers are competitive and I work at the University, I think I still have a slight chance of making it in. Guess I gotta keep my fingers crossed.

Congrats on all those who have been accepted and decided to attend. You chose a great school to receive your legal education.
