Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / Syracuse Visitor Program
« on: March 30, 2005, 08:30:06 AM »
Is anyone planning to attend one of the Visitor Programs days this month? I'm going this Friday (April 1st) and I'm really excited.  As long as I don't come away with a really bad feeling, they'll be receiving my seat deposit next week!

If anyone else will be there, please PM me or something! I'm gonna be all alone (and coming from Alabama!)

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Pace
« on: March 26, 2005, 12:47:31 PM »
I got in to Pace today!

I've now heard back from all of the schools I applied to -- and I managed to not get rejected at all! It almost makes me wonder if I should have reached higher. Oh well .. now it's all up to me!

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Hofstra
« on: March 12, 2005, 03:40:39 PM »
My mom called this afternoon to inform me that I had a "rather large envelope from Hostra" and asked if I wanted it opened. What kind of question is that?  I got accepted!

I'm a little discouraged by the fact that their seat deposit is $850 in one lump sum .. at the end of April!

Also, there was no mention of scholarship, which kind of sucks.  I didn't really expect it though, with a 155/3.47.

Yay for two in one day, to two different addresses!!!

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / New England School of Law
« on: March 12, 2005, 12:48:48 PM »
I received my acceptance to New England School of Law today.  There was no mention of financial aid, but I'm not sure if they notify with acceptance or later. Does anyone know?

If they were to offer a nice amount of money, I would seriously consider going, but right now Syracuse is my top choice -- that is, until I hear from Pace and Hofstra.

Regardless, it feels really good to get accepted, even if I don't know if I'm going to go there!! :)

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / In at NYLS, Syracuse, and Touro!!

I got three acceptances today -- New York Law School, Touro, and Syracuse! I'm really excited because it's been a while since I've heard anything, and it's so nice to have so many options!!!!

Choosing the Right Law School / What do you weigh in your decisions?
« on: January 21, 2005, 07:11:18 PM »
I am curious to see what you guys weigh most heavily when deciding where to apply AND where to go once you've been accepted (to more than one place, obviously).  What factors did/do you extensively research and what was most important to you (other than the school's ranking and average lsat/gpa .. I'm looking for specifics here!)?  I just think it would be interesting to see who emphasizes what ...

Location? Specific Programs?  Bar Passage Rate?  Faculty Reputation? Average Starting Salary?

If an application says..

"...brief, typed, double-spaced personal statement, typically not to exceed 500 words..."

then is it really bad that what I have right now is 595? I know that sounds like a really stupid question, but I'm being 100% serious. I'm having a really hard time finding something to cut out of it .. especially 100 words worth!

Law School Admissions / Addendum or no?
« on: January 12, 2005, 10:08:34 AM »
A couple of the applications I am completing ask for my rank and the size of my college class. However, I learned today from my advisor, the Liberal Arts Office, and the Registrar that that information is not available. My Pre-Law advisor suggested to simply put "Not Available" on my applications, but I don't want it to look as though I didn't try to find the information, or as though I was scared to tell them. Should I write a short addendum explaining that the information is not available, or just do as she said and leave it at that???

Law School Admissions / Question about attaching resume
« on: January 07, 2005, 10:29:04 PM »
Is it bad to attach a resume to an application if the school did not specifically ask for it?  I know that sounds like a stupid question, but would they look unfavorably upon it?

Choosing the Right Law School / Baltimore?
« on: January 07, 2005, 10:11:05 AM »
Does anybody know anything about the University of Baltimore? I did a search through old threads and there wasn't much information, but I'm really trying to decide if I want to apply as a safety.  Any information is appreciated!!
