Yeah.... this thread is moot. Thanks for the feedback all.
Looking back, I feel kind of foolish about posting this at all. I honestly expected to do better. However, given my great aid package, I can't think of a place I'd rather be than Texas (except, of course, possibly Yale or Stanford... but that would cost a bundle, obviously). No regrets.

Thanks for the ID related answers all. I went in and got a 'temporary receipt'. That, combined with the documentation I used to get the ID (student IDs, social security card, birth certificate, etc.) and my willingness to have my bags searched my scary TSA, should allow me to fly.
I'm headed back to Tucson for a short bit, and I'm not entirely sure when I'll be back. Long story. In any case, it may be best to count me out of the Thursday festivities...

My apologies; I keep jumping in this thread only when I need information. It's not by design, honest.
Anyway, I, um, need some information. I need a state issued ID relatively quickly. In my home state, Arizona, it's easy: You go in, provide your documentation, and you have an ID within five minutes or so. Is it like that in Texas, or do they mail the ID to you at a later date?

I'm in a bit of a bind. The details are complicated; I won't bore you with them. The upshot is that my Arizona drivers license is missing, and I have no way to get a replacement in the near future. I've ordered one off Arizona's webpage, but it won't be here for several days.
That wasn't really a problem, until now. Due to breathtakingly inconvenient timing, I need to get back to Tucson in the near future. The only ID I have is a University of Arizona student ID, a University of Texas ID, and a social security card. Has anybody ever flown using a student ID as their method of photo identification? Or, alternatively, has anybody tried it and found out it's not good enough to fly with? In either case, mention whether your school id was public or private.....

When I started, my first choice was Stanford and my second choice was Duke. I applied to UT almost at random. I never thought i'd end up going there. And yet, here I am. The in-state tuition, low cost of living, and scholarship played a huge role in all that, of course. And Austin is a great town.

To actually get the thread back on track (nominally): I plan to attend that Thursday, Ani. I'm having car troubles at the moment, but I sincerely hope that's all resolved by then......
Who else is in?

Also, how come there was pizza talk without me?
My own bad timing.

Ormachea-- Eh, it happens. Thanks anyway!

Quick question: I really crave pizza tonight. I'm in the downtown area. Where's a good place that delivers? Mmmmm.... pizza....
