The Fulani have not always been muslim, they are the group that introduced islam to Nigeria since they were nomadic traders/herders. Have the fulani always been muslim of course not because Islam was introduced in the 13th century, and the empire of Kanem controlled the area from the end of the 11th century to the 14th, therefore the Fulani were not always muslims. That is the two major ethnic groups in that area Hausa-Fulani, yes they are distinguished as two groups, but even nigeria.gov lists them as the way I listed them... "With an estimated population of some 4.3 million people, Bauchi is divided into 20 local government areas. Predominant ethnic groups are the Hausa-Fulani, who constitute some 65 percent of the population, as well as the kanuri, Gerawa, Sayawa, Jarawa, Volawa and Karekare. The state derives its name from its capital city, which in turn looks back to a famous hunter called Bauhe. The area is indeed famous for its wildlife and for those who pursue it."
There's pretty much nothing in Malibu if you are under 40. The party area is W. LA. which is far from Malibu. the Malibu area is super conservative. The beach in the winter isn't even worth looking at. Plus most if not 90% can't even afford to live off campus in that area 3K a month for a 1 bedroom? Even going inland to Calabasas you're spending at least 1-2K a month for a 1 bedroom.
The problem with this news story is that it does not take into account the major political religious strife within the Nigerian state that they noted. From little hints of the story it is most likely that this woman was not part of the majority ethnic group in that area the Fulani-Hausa that have become muslim within the past twenty or so years, most likely she was the a part of one of the mainy ethnic minority in this state. Becareful with stories like this from this area because there is a patchwork of information to understand that not many people understand or get, if they have no knowledge of this area of Africa.
