My car insurance company is Esurance, and it is a nationwide company. I told the lady on the phone that I am only moving to florida for school and that I will be keeping my mailing address, driver's liscence, and registration all under Michigan. However, the lady told me that she needed to check with a supervisor and have the super call me back. The next day a supervisor called me and said that because the car was going to be kept in Florida for most of the time, I need to have florida car insurance. Esurance quoted me for a florida policy and wanted to charge me $300 more for 6 months than what I am paying now. By forcing me to switch they are getting more money from me, so they are totally taking advantage of me. Had I not said anything they never would have known, but I wanted to check and make sure because if something happened to my car I didnt want there to be any problems. Now it's too late and unless I can find cheaper insurance through a different company, I'm screwed. The good news is that my dad has a house in Palm Beach Gardens and I can use his mailing address, so the insurance will probably be cheaper then in the city of Miami.

ok i was just told by my car insurance company (i have esurance) that i will have to get miami car insurance because my car will be there most of the time. I was planning on using my Michigan mailing address and using my michigan car insurance but now they know im moving so i need to find new insurance. Does anyone know of good car insurance in Miami and Florida in general? My insurance is really high because i was always under my parents before and now i'm on my own....

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys!! What kind of drama was there? I can imagine it being like highschool but isnt the class really big? The amount of kids in the summer session would be easier to talk *&^% about but i guess we are going to all be divided into sections anyway....

I'm such a gossip whore, I dont talk about people so much but I certainly love hearing about them! :O)

Linzy: you're hot! I like that attitude!  Why did you take your picture off?  We're going to be great friends next year.

I got nervous because I watched a lifetime movie about a girl who gets cyberstalked and killed so I took my pic down, but thanks for the compliment! Yea, i'm not into sugercoating things but I try to be as polite as possible - I mean, I am not posting on other school specific boards so I think it's a little wierd that someone would be so interested in talking all about UM and Miami if they dont live there or plan to attend the school. By the way, today is my birthday! All my friends took me out to dinner and it was really fun but I got really sad because I wont be able to see them when I move, which is soon. I am leaving July 11 and I haven't even started to pack or set up my utilities or do anything so I feel really overwhelmed. I'm going to miss all my friends but after talking to you guys it seems like I have already met some great people - I cant wait to meet ya'll in person!

people from places like Texa slike Kendall bc it is suburban and plaaned.  some people dont like big city living but still want to be near scenic parts of miami. The only people that dont like Kendall are native Miamians and east coasters from big cities.  IMO Kendall was BY FAR the most livable AND affordable places within driving distance of the school.

Jeff, I thought you were not going to Miami anymore because you couldn't find a place to live. Not to be rude, but anytime any of us says something about where we are living you feel the need to throw in your opinion and argue with people. No offense, but if you are no longer going to be living in Miami or attending the law school there, then why do you continue to come on this board?

There is no way that SUVs are not allowed - I know as a fact because my boyfriend lived off Santona St (directly across from campus) and he drives an Explorer. All his friends drive SUVs as well...plus I saw a ton of them in the law school parking lot. If the entire city of Coral Gables forbids SUVs then so would the law school...maybe this so called "law" is for street parking or something else, but otherwise this is just rediculous.

For those of you 1Ls with early classes, how long did it take you to make the adjustment to waking up so early? My schedule now has me out until 3am and I am not functional the next day until at least noon. I want to have fun with my friends this summer before school but it takes my body a while to get used to schedule changes. Anyone care to comment???

Your "schedule?" Is that a work schedule or a party schedule?

It's my sleeping schedule
